MAde a bit more progres with the DLL. Decided to support all features and there are pages of code to do just to lad the DLL. I have got about hgalf way thorugh this boring stuff now.
Millsy, I downloaded FreeICE for a look and I must say I am blown away by it! I was able to embed our Skinbedder application on the Navigation button with this code in fi.ini:
gps=OziEmbedded,C:\skinbedderv3p2\skinbedder.exe,1 Love the radio!
You also need to put the file buttonclick.wav that is in the main SkinBedder directory in the freeice folder.
Not sure how to add icons to the FreeIce folder.
Bugger, FreeICE supports embedding multiple applications on the one screen, which might be interesting, but would need Flash to do it. I might be able to get my hands on a copy, but know nothing about it.
Cheers

I agree about FI,on my system it just works, no mucking around with lots of different progs,i must admit i am a CDR (the author) fan i was using the Freedom Ultimate skin with roadrunner,visually perfecto just is a touch unstable on my system,if a skin is ever made like FU for FI then that would be the "ULTIMATE"I reckon it would be great to be able to have two progs. on screen at once.I wish i was a bit smarter with the programming side

Ok
The Ozi Menu for skinbedder is taking shape and Justin is hoping to do a pre-release version soon, but he might take a bit more as I realised I had left out a menu from the stuff I sent him, so he might not thank me for the extra work this will cause.
Here is a description of the features proposed. Some of these options have no equivalent menu in Ozie (ie on tool bar only) so they may need to be Assigned to Function keys as noted below by the user as part of the installation.
Details of each feature are outlined as follows:
1) Zoom in (+ Key)
2) Zoom Out (- Key)
3) Show GPS Fix Data (Control-F)
4) Moving Map Control
5) Set Waypoint Marker At Position (Alt-K)
6) Map Here Menu a) Find map to West b) Find map to North c) Find map at Position d) Find map to South e) Find Map to East 7) Track Menu a) Show Track Control b) Save Track to file c) Load Track from file d) Show Tracks on Map e) Clear Track 1 (no menu option, assign F12 to Other - Track 1 Quick Clear) 8) Show Distance and Bearing display (no menu Option – Assign F11 to View - Distance Display)
9) Waypoint Menu a) Show waypoint Control b) Save waypoint to File c) Load Waypoints From File d) Show Distance between Waypoints e) Show Waypoints on Map f) Future addition- Show Navigation Control (Control_N) put on the Waypoint Menu as you can select a waypoint on the map to navigate to next. 10) Route Menu a) Show Route Editor (Alt R) b) Load Routes from File c) Save Routes to File d) Show Routes (Control-R) 11) Hide Menu a) Hide Waypoint b) Hide Event c) Hide Feature d) Hide Comment e) Hide all of above 12) Unhide Menu a) Unhide Waypoint b) Unhide event c) Unhide feature d) Unhide Comment e) Unhide All of above [INDENT]13) Function Key menu – User to assign their own function keys under File Menu a) Press Fn2 b) Press Fn3 c) Press Fn4 d) Press Fn5 e) Press Fn6 From here, the Menu (f may be added and perhaps is swpped with 8 so the add Waypoint marker stays at the top level but is close to the waypoint menu. If there are features Justin can't get, some features may be removed or disabled.
Let us hear your feedback.
Cheers
Rod

Millsy
You know what I mean
I worked out how to add an Oze menu to FreeICE and knocked up an icon for it.
Download the picture and
Put the icon in C:\FreeICE\skins\default\icons
Add these lines to skin.ini inthe C:\FreeICE\skins\default folder
Code:
&MENU10=OZI;Ozi;icons/oze.png&
OZI=OziEmbedded,C:\skinbedderv3p2\SKINbedder.exe,0
Well actually, modify the first line as there is already an entry for MENU10 there. and append the last line to skin.ini.

Hi guys
I'm sorry to say that there hasn't been any progress in the last couple of weeks... I hope to get onto this again on the weekend and next week. I've got another couple of huge weeks at work coming up so if I don't get it happening next week, we'll all be waiting another month.
By the way, I spent last weekend on a boys trip out in Vic. Mt Buangor near Beaufort. Great weather, heaps of grog and good driving (that doesn't really fit together does it!)
* I do not promote drink driving in any form on or off road *

@Rod
I've finally got some time to work on the skin (Wife's in bed still )
For the track menu, I have 2 options for saving tracks:
1. use "Log to file" and have this button start a new log (my preference)
2. operate save to file - track in Ozi
Do you think we need to put both options on?
I use "log to file" option in ozi so my movements are always recorded as long as Ozi is running. When I go out for a weekend, I would simply start a new log file before leaving home, then forget about it till I get home again. The whole camping/4wd trip is then recorded in one file.

Bugger,
Sorry mate, been out of the house all day in the shed finishing my offroad encosure and mowing the lawn etc.
There is no function in the API to turn on Log to file so this can't be done in RR. You can only save a Track file. The only way I can see you could do this is to assign Log to file to a function key but it is a bit dangerous because the function key toggles log to file on or off. Ozie remembers the state of the log to file flag between sessions so that is probably OK.
Can you confirm you don't use log to Memory/Map? I got a track full error after half a day which probably happened because I had this turned on.
I have given saving files a bit of thought. I was thinking of saving Track 1 to a file with the filename based on the date and time when you exited Ozie. While I was at it, I would probably do the same thing to Waypoints as well. I think I could do this quite quickly in a command line program before I work out RR's messaging interface and you could run this from RR using the RUNQ command before closing Ozi from RR. Pretty sure RUNQ runs the program hidden. Would that do?
I think you should still offer save the track file and waypoint file within Skibbedder but I think you have got that working anyway.
I've been busy too, no time for coding, finally got my off road enclosure built without frying anything. Will post pics on the Aussie Offroad thread. My Xenarc monitor cleared customs late last week, so probably woun't do any coding on an RR DLL for Ozie until I get something in my car.

In the setup notes for the skin, I require Log to file to be turned on. Without this, you always get unsaved track save messages popping up wich then requires saving. This breaks the normal exit and you are forced to kill ozi.
I'm pretty sure Log to Memory/Map should be off.
If we want to save all features (waypoint, route, comment, etc) based on system date/time, I could do that with AutoIT fairly easily as well... that runs in system tray and could be called before quitting as well.

Does the external app sound the way to go to save those tracks? Let me know and I'll see how I go tomorrow (I often wake up before my wife as well), simpler the better the command line won't be resource hungry...

Guys, just an update, Bugger has the skin done and I have completed the OziSave program that saves the tracks and waypoints.
Problem is that I can't yet work out how to run the program from within RR, so have to solve that before we can release a version. However if I run it outside of rr, the files are saved. Hopefully Bugger will have more luck than me on this bit. If we can get that solved, I am hoping that it won't be too much drama to return all of Ozi's nav data and Odeometers to RR but that will be Version 2.
Cheers
Rod
