04 Accord PC

I installed my first car PC in my first car almost four years ago. In March I traded the car (for a grand total of $600 for a '95 Concorde) in towards the purchase of my '04 Honda Accord LX.

I figured I could go without putting the computer in, but once you've had one, it's hard to live without it. So, over the past month and a half, I've been working on installing the computer. I finished the installation over the weekend.

Specs:
VIA m10000
512 MB RAM
80 GB Hard Drive
Phillips Acoustic Edge sound card

The following are some cell phone pics (R.I.P Canon A70) of the new setup.

First, the car:

The first thing I installed was the inverter and an aux audio input:

Here's the switch that turns the inverter on (safety switches are so cool):

Looks pretty stock, right?

BAM! Hidden screen (which is actually unhidden most of the time unless I'm in a sketchy neighborhood):

More screen (glare isn't a problem from the driver's position most of the time):

My mouse and super small keyboard fit in the center console:

The computer (still have some wire management to do):

The GPS receiver:

Another shot of the GPS:

That's all the pictures I have right now. Not pictured is the controller I use for music. It's the Logitech NuLOOQ (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/pr...ONTENTID=12771). It's installed in the front cup holder and I only use the top, white part. I tried taking a picture of it, but it just shows up as a white circle. I might take a night picture of it sometime because the buttons glow with a pretty blue color.

Very nice! I just bought an 04 accord too (last Friday). The center console storage pocket seems like the only logical place to put a screen. I think this option looks much nicer than the flip-up screens that I've seen people put in there.

just curious did you buy a SNHOND3 for the aux in?

Thanks for the compliments.

Yeah, I used the SNHOND3 for the aux in and computer audio input. It works really well.

Very nice job! Can you tell me which screen you installed like make and model. I am going through "where to install the screen" stage in my carputor's installation for my 2003 Accord. I was going to install a fold up screen in place of center a/c went but the space behind them turned out to be very limited.

I molded a Xenarc VGA screen into the storage pocket.

john05srt4:
I took the sockets out of the inverter and extended the wires. The inverter actually sits right under the storage pocket.

Just stick with it and keep working on it. That screen was really only my second fabrication job. It took me over two weeks to get it to where I was happy with it. Just keep working on it until you get it the way you like it. You'll get it eventually.

Does the 04 come with a flip top thing like that or did you purchase it seperate? I really like the idea of those for my 02 accord since most of the time my car will be in a sketchy area.

i'm deciding between flip top or tint right now to hide the screen

Looks great.
Have you thought about stashing the gps module under that plastic panel with the HVAC vents in the middle of your dash? I don;t know how much room is under there, but if it is only ABS plastic, you'll be able to put the module under there out of sight and have no loss of signal
