Here is the back of the display, the carPC and the Opus PSU:

Custom cable that I made. It carries VGA, power for the screen, power button for the screen, USB for the touch screen, USB for the hub. I didn't want to have several feet of extra cable rolled up somwhere or deal with big bulky VGA cables.. just a one plug solution.

Closeup of the display end of the cable. All wires are 22AWG, connectors are from the Molex Mini-fit series. Since the Xenarc only uses 7 wires for the VGA, I could get more into one connector. This connector carries 1xUSB, VGA, Display power from the Opus and the power switch for the display. The silver wire has a mini USB plug for the hub.

Closeup of the PC end of the cable. There are two connectors. Big one contains the VGA and USB, the small one is for the monitor power. The computer provids the power for the monitor via a connector that is tapped into the CarPC power input from the Opus.

Wire coming out of the dash ready to plug into the screen:

Wire runs to the right of the gear shift.. so clean

And under the cupholders (closest to the camera)

And down to where the carPC will sit:

CarPC itself.. Motherboard is the size of a 3.5" HDD.

Thanks. I do have pics of the dash, I will post them when I get home in a few days as they are on my other computer.. I think.

It looks more blue in the pic because of the way it reflected the flash, but it is a really close match in-person.

What is the Demensions of the Motherboard and the model?

Good job. I especially like the custom cable. I have a thing against rolled up wire myslef. Kinda takes away from the end result in my eyes. So how do you connect your custom cable to Xenarc. If memory serves me right, the Xenarc has a sorta custom connector of its own (integrates VGA/USB/[S-VIDEO]). Did you get your hands on a new connector to splice?

My particular Xenarc has a seperate cable for each input, I think.. it was a long time ago that I got rid of it...

I just took the wires that were plugged into the board and connected them to the white molex mini-fir jr connector.

Motherboard is an Advantech PCM-9731, Celeron 600, and the dimensions are the same as a 3.5" desktop hard drive. (Sorry, no ruler handy)

Left to right on the back of the Xenarc pic on the wires that go to the plug:

USB Touch screen (4 wires)
VGA (7 wires)
Power Button (2 wires)
+12v (2 Wires)

One more pic for anyone who thought that the HDD was suspiciously absent. The orange stripe in the CF slot is the edge of the Seagate CF photo hard drive. It's NOT flash memory, it is a 3600RPM hard drive. Handy for people who don't want the hassle of EWF stuff but don't want solid state drive or a laptop drive. This is on the bottom of the motherboard.

Good stuff! It seems like the mobo could fit right behind the screen too. Was that ever considered an option?

Hmm.. it's a bit tight back there behind the screen when you factor in cables, etc... also, the dashboard is black and it can get pretty hot back there. I thought that a 2 piece installation like this, if done right, would be cleaner and make for easier removal for when I want to bring it inside and make software changes, etc...
