Looking good. Looks like felt works great! Seems to have drank the resin right in.

I finally got my screen and did a semi-install yesterday. it's all up and running temporarily. I have another copy of Windows XP on the way, since I just used my laptop's disk and license to install it for now, so I'll be redoing it soon enough. But it works for now. WOOT! The screen is just mounted on the stand to the top of the console.

thanks guys!

Uraijit - be sure to post up some pics of you install

I've got a question - anyone know what SEM color matches the dark tan piece I'm replacing? I've looked online but it's too hard to tell - also, doesn't appear that anyone in my area sells SEM products.

more progress!!! This morning Dad put a second coat of resin down. I couldn't be happier with the way it turned out :

I was able to do some test fiting - screen dropped right in - nothing twisted or warped!!! Need to dress the edges and do some trimming before I can test it in the truck, but if the screen fit like before, I'm confident it will fit the console just like before.

Went ahead and applied some resin to the back side

Not sure if we'll be working tomorrow since it's my birthday and I plan on going out If we do work, it will be the trimming and dressing the edges and might also get some sanding in so next week we'll be able to shoot some primer.

Started my own worklog, so I can stop cluttering yours up. There are a few pics if you want to check them out.

and finally some updates! Here's the screen installed and the whole bezel mounted back in the dash:

Heres a couple of pics showing how much trimming of the inner dash was needed:

got the powersupply mounted to the bottom of the case

and got the motherboard mounted to the case too:

and some off subject pics I grabbed of Dad's current project - Piper Cub:

Wow, and I thought your dad had skills just building the bezel. That plane is awesome!

Your project is looking pretty sweet too! How are you doing your sound?

case is done - includes power supply, HD and mother board. Mounting the DVD will start next week and once that's done that should be all of the fabrication.

made some good progress on the DVD

this piece probably took us 3 hrs to finish up - got the curves just right. This is also probably the one piece where I learned the most from the old man

and the rest:

test fitting in the truck (might have to adjust the angle or do some more trimming to get it all to fit right)

flush mounted for the DVD:
