Congratulations, it looks 100% OEM also. I wish I had those fabbing skills. I wasnt happy with my install so I pulled it out completely. Im missing key parts (replaced alot of stuff with better stuff), once I get them, I will reinstall my system and this time do it correctly.
As for the gas hog comment, SUV are meant to be big and powerful, that requires a big powerful engine. Please people, dont bash me, but I think if a truck is under 6 cylinders, then it really isnt a true truck. My Cherokee was a V6 and I hated it so much, I felt the engine was tiny for such a large car. I was happy when that car blew up and I replaced it with my D. It has good pickup and is very fast, and once I get the speed limiter removed it will be scary fast.

Gas Hog
I have a Suburban and I get about 19-20mpg around town and about 24 on the highway. I would not call that a Hog!

yeah gas milage isn't as bad as people who haven't experienced it first hand would think. But have fun with that I-5 - wife has one of those in her truck and the thing has no balls what-so-ever.
They do have a hybrid Tahoe now. Have you considered one of those?

What year is your suburban and what is the engine type?
What I do like about the new SUV's, especially the ones from Chrysler, Dodge, is that it has a V8 Hemi and when in cruising conditions, it shuts down 4 cylinders, saving gas. Then when you floor it for high speed situations, it automatically activates all 8 cylinders.
Its just to bad I cant stand the way the new trucks look.....

My '01 Tahoe gets about 18-19 in town. Of course, I warm it up for 20 min every morning right now, so it's averaging about 16MPG between fill-ups.
Anyway, hijacking aside, your project is really looking great. I can't wait for it to warm up. I have so many freaking projects that I can't do while it's cold.

Steering wheel controls
Hey slick install, it looks fantastic!
I am a secondtime noobi, and have been lurking awhile.
But your project has further sparked my interest in a pc in my truck.
I have a 1997 Chev full ton crew that I am going to put the interior(mostly the dash) from a truck in your year range in and then install a computer.
My question to you is - do the steering wheel controls work with your setup and how?
Thanks and great looking install again!

You could make them work with the steering wheel controls very easily. Either with phidgets, or with a chopped and hacked keyboard... Do some searching on the forum.

I used a PAC aux in module that hooks between the factory harness and the stock head unit. From that, I was able to hook the PC sound into the aux in. My factory steering wheel controls work exactly the same. I can control the source, volume level, mute, everything just like before. Like Uraijit is saying I could probably take it a step further and use them to control certain things on the PC, but for me, the TS works just fine.
