2004 Acura RSX Type-S turbo - Mac install

Finished up everything last weekend, but I needed to remove that crappy XM radio so I had to take everything out. I should have shown pictures of the power supply, soundcard, etc, but I was just excited to see this thing installed.

It's still dirty so, please excuse the dirty bezel, I was working on an A/C modification on my car and I was removing and installing engine bay stuff!

check out the pictures! thanks for looking!

Here's the main screen. It's Mac OSX Tiger and Windows XP via Parallels 3.0. I got ideas doing the screen this way instead of using the epoxy bondo method from BLK02SI from the boards here. So I thank him for his DIY posts.

This is Aychamo's AMP front end running. It's a great, very minimalist view on Front Ends. I can't stand some of the overly cluttered Front Ends out there.

This is Iguidance V4.0 running very smoothly...

This in the main reason for installing the carputer. The program is for Windows. It's Hondata's KPRO for the K20 motor on some Acuras and some Hondas. What they do is install a KPRO daughterboard on your car ECU and with that it attaches to you computer via USB and viola! Every parameter is shown on the screen and everything is controllable from fuel mapping, idle change, boost, etc. Everything you can possibly think of. Even datalogging is possible! Check out their website.

Here's the car - 2004 Acura RSX turbocharged with a GReddy bolt-on kit. I would tell you what I have in the motor, but that's another thread altogether.

That looks really good. What screen did you end up using? I have an EBY-701 and it's not exactly the right size to stick the double din bezel in front of (it doesn't fit behind the opening because part of the dash is in the way in the Si). I also didn't want to modify my screen because it would void the extended warranty. It fits really nice in the hole left when the factory stereo is removed (aside from the triangular section in the upper right hand corner).

Wow, nice job on the bezel. Did you fabricate that? Mine turned out horribly, and I need to redo it. I have the Lilliput 629-70NP.

Very nice install! Looks professionally done.

Question: I am assuming you are running XP in "parallel" for iGuidance also(?).
I love the Mac and personally think its OS is far superior to a win box but I needed the ability to run win apps, especially gps. I never heard of Parallels Desktop before so I am eagerly reading up on it. How long does it take for the Mac OS and XP to fully boot up? I currently have an nLite'd version of XP booting in 18 seconds which makes the carpc experience very enjoyable. If yours comes anywhere near that, I may seriously think of going the mac route...

Yes I fabricated it. I used instructions from BLK02SI.

I'm running XP through Parallels in coherance mode. Hmm, it probably takes the whole system what, I don't know, less than a minute when the Mac is coming out of sleep mode. From a cold start, it probably takes OSX and XP somewhere from 1 to 2 minutes. I using the whole XP version so it's probably taking longer than your 18 seconds, but I'm cool with it for right now. In a couple of weeks I'll try the watered down version of XP, maybe that Beast version. Personally, I like the way OSX looks and I like how the wallpaper changes every 5 seconds or however you you set it. And lastly, the Mini is soooo cheap. It cost me probably around 400 dollars.

thanks bro, right now im using different front ends, mainly based on what i feel that day.
I like using AMP, a mac based front end, which is what you see on the page.
Then second, I like using Roadrunner with the "Shock V3.0" skin. it works well.
Then sometimes I like using Itunes Coverflow, which is cool because it fits the screen perfect.

How are you getting audio to your speakers? If no deck is involved how are you doing FM/AM?
