my guess is none of the OBDII programmers are expecting people to go into standby or hibernation so therefore have not programmed for it.

RipplingHurst will become famous soon enough
You might want to take a look at this:

http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/lcd-...one-these.html

It's a 3.5" VGA LCD, maybe it's a better fit to your dash, no? Of course, you already have another one, and this one would be another $280. But it looks good for gauge applications/2nd LCD.

In any case, thought you might be interested.

Cheers.

I got me some mobile internet! Picked up one of these http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/05/s...-do-usb-modem/ and signed up with Sprint. $50/mo
I'm still trying to figure out how to get it to auto connect to the net without having to use the crappy sprint software. It's also not working after resume so hopefully I can figure that out.
last.fm in the car is awesome though.

Nice install! Sound question

Really nice work on the fabrication stuff. I recently completed installing in my 2000 323 Coupe. I'm using the same sound card (Turtle Beach Advantage SRM) w/stock amp (non-HK though). I used a SVEN4 to convert to balanced input, and an Audiogate AVM4 to boost volume, but sound is terrible. I'm wondering if PHOENIX GOLD SLD44 SIGNAL LINE DRIVER PROCESSOR is a better product? They cost about the same. I haev a slight noise problem I'm trying to work out too, but I'm a lot more concerned about the sound quality which is really pretty poor. I am getting way too much distortion when I turn up the gains on the audiogate, but not enough volume when I turn them down. Did you do any special tuning?

I have no problem with sound quality. I don't think there is any need for a sven 4. All I needed was a line driver to increase the voltage going into the amps. I also have zero line noise.
The way I set it up was turn the pc volume to 75% and then turn up the gains on the line drivers until I head distortion and then back a bit. The only problem I have now is the volume is still quite loud and very small window volume like 2-3%. I can turn down the wave volume but then my high end is quieter which is ok since I don't listen to it that loud anyways. Either the output from the Audio advantage or the output from the line drivers is not linear. It gets loud early and then sort of levels out around 50%. Anything louder than that is a smaller change. The bass is also disproportionate to the rest of the sound. It is good at low volumes but higher up I need to adjust the gain knob for more bass.
So I'm still trying to find the perfect balance but it's pretty decent in the mean time.

How did you wire in the line driver? Does it have a separate power source/relay or a built in input for an IGN wire?

I got rid of my distortion issue, but I'm now picking up lots of line noise through my Soundgate AVM4. It's definitely line noise because I get none when I run it through an old ATX power supply in my garage. I have a torroidal filter from www.davidnavone.com but it doesn't change the noise at all. He recommends a separate power supply, but I'm so far over budget I'm looking for a cheaper solution

My Suggestion To You Is Check Your Grounds... Make Sure They Are Ground To The Chasis Of The Car And Make Sure It Has Good Contact. Also, Try To Use As Little Length Needed And Ground It As Close To Each Other As Possible. I Heard Good Things About The Soundgate Avm4 So I Really Don't Think Its The Cause. It Might Be Causing It But Only Due To A Bad Ground From Your Setup.

My line drivers have a remote line input so they turn on with ignition.

Reran my grounds back to the battery and got significant improvement, but still too much noise. It seems to be a loop from the computer/USB lines. Noise stops when I power the amp separately or when I pull the sound card USB line. It's worse when I power the USB from the computer vs. self powered.

I'm currently using two separate 4 foot 10AWG lines to battery for ground. One grounds the Carnetix P1900 and the other grounds Relay, USB hub and pre-amp. I think I will upgrade to a single 4 or 8 AWG to a distribution block then very short run to components.

I got some free money from the government last week cause it feels guilty about being being a dick or something so I decided to stimulate the economy by getting myself some carbon fiber interior trim. I ordered the kit from EAS and it arrived today. The quality is absolutely perfect. I have only installed a couple pieces since I'm at work and technically supposed to be working. Some iPhone pics. I'll post more when I get the whole thing installed tonight.

Wow..... I think that you have don an amazing job! I just wish that I had mad skills like you to be able to do something like that.

I do have a couple of questions that I would like to ask you though. I love the idea of the SpaceNavigator, but do you know if it works with Centrafuse?

I am also interested in the iBus adaptor that you have got, what can it do? what do you use it for?

Thanks

Guy

maybe this is a good substitute for your gauges : 5" LCD with VGA

http://www.3dmatrixvision.com/5in_LCD/5_vga_lcd.htm

p.s. I'm going to try to fit an E46 midconsole into a E30 , spacenavigator does not fit my stock one (too narrow)

Thanks a lot.
If centrafuse works with keystrokes then you can configure the spacenav to send whatever keystrokes you want.

I use the ibus to receive messages from my steering wheel controls to control FreeIce but you can also use it to send messages to the car to turn on lights, roll up windows etc.

So my laptop got fried somehow. I hope the hard drive is ok but it just won't turn on anymore. I ordered a replacement motherboard off ebay so hopefully I can it back up and running without too much problem.
