I got my ram yesterday, put it in and nothing. The fans were spinning and the power light was on but no display. After some fooling around I noticed that there is no cable to connect the extra 12V 4 pin power from the M2ATX to the motherboard. The M2Atx didn't come with it and most power supplies will have branching off the main power cable. So I decided to make one from a plug I found in the junk drawer and I chopped the other one off a different power supply. I'll have to fix that one later. So after plugging that in, I get the fans powering up for a few seconds and then shutting down. I figured I wasn't giving the power supply enough current so tried it in the car and voila, bios screen. So today I picked up a 12V 5A power supply for the bench that should do the trick. My other supply was only putting out 2.5A which didn't cut it I guess.
My next challenge is getting windows installed on this thing. I don't have a CD drive in it so I'll have to borrow one from another computer. I have a slim DVD drive but I don't have the 50 pin adapter cable for it. I wanted to try and install windows off a usb drive but that is proving to be way too difficult.
I ended up having to hook up a CDrom, the USB install didn't work. I also had to do it hooked up to the car because it still won't run in the house with my new bench power supply.
So windows is installed and some other drivers and such but it's running quite sluggish. I'm not sure what it would be but it takes a couple minutes just to boot up.
Just a quick update. My pc stopped entering standby properly, the fans would still be spinning and would kill my battery. So I upgraded the bios, reinstalled XP and tweaked some stuff and it seems to be fixed. It's running much faster now as well.
I decided to switch front ends and go back to Road Runner solely to use the awesome Elite skin. It's purdy.
I'm still trying to get the spacenav working again and a I'm having some volume issues in RR. RR keeps unmuting my mic and sets the master volume really low. I wonder if it's a Winamp problem. I'm using 5.13 and previously I used 5.44.
I haven't updated this thread in a while but I have made a few changes to my setup.
I decided to build a platform on top of the spare tire in the trunk. I mounted the amp and PC on this and re wired everything to be a lot more organized. I needed to fabricate a new trunk cover to work with everything mounted so I decided to just flip the original one over and carpet it. It took some work to reverse the handle but I think it worked out well.
I also purchased a new CCD 1/3" 120 degree camera and built it into the BMW trunk logo. I think it looks pretty cool. The LEDs aren't actually blue like in the pics, that's just the way they show up in pics.
The picture is great in daylight and very bright at night with the IR emitters. I split the signal in AV1 and gave the cam constant power so I can switch my monitor to reverse view without having to put it in reverse gear.
I also changed the webcam in the front with a new logitech notebook pro. The picture is much better than the previous one.
Pics!
Any link for the CCD camera? Looks Neat. Do you use RRCAm with that Logitech? I've had problems with my Logitech 9000 drivers and RRCAM. So I use another soft found here in the forums, but I can't see the images from within the car, but its being recorded.
I got the CCD cam off ebay. The seller is yanolab. The camera has been reviewed on this site before.
I don't use rrcam, I could never get it to work well. I use Capture! at the moment which works ok but gives errors on resume most of the time.

Do you happen to have a link to "Capture!"? I can't seem to find it with that spelling.
