Awesome install! I see you got CF running on there. Maybe you can give me a hand loading that up in my car when you get back. Have a safe and fun trip!

The PC with its huge OPUS 320 PSU takes up the back of the passenger seat. The center console holds all my components, which takes up the whole thing. The bottom of the passenger seat is taken up by all electric wiring, adapters, and most cabling.

Thanks! And I will definitely give you a hand with that.
As far as the trip is concerned, the PC worked very well for the most part, although, after around 16 hours (of the 24-hour drive) on the way out, and after 18 hours on the way back, the PC decided to just power off. I'm pretty sure it's a heat-related issue, because it started working again once I turned the heat off and cracked the windows to let cool air in, and then disconnected and then reconnected power to the PC.. So I will see what I can do about adding some cooling to the system.
I mean, I did after all cram a P4 in C150, so I'm not overly surprised

It sounds like you have a whole bunch of car audio stuff besides the PC?
I'll post more pics when I get home, to give a better idea of how much space is consumed by my install.

More pics...
7-port USB hub and keyboard in the glovebox, and PC under the passenger seat. Yay.
Hmmm, now that I'm looking at the pictures, I wonder if that duct that runs underneath the seat frame only carries air when floor output is selected. Will have to test that out, that just might be a major contributing factor to the PC's overheating issue. Could it really be so simple? lol

Well as far as the floor vent is concerned, there seemed to be slight airflow when the dash vents were selected, but were pushing a ton of air when floor was selected. So I decided to stuff a sock in the vent. Well, an old rag, actually.
I guess I'll see how that works out.

Any plans to just relocate the computer?

Nah, I'll give it a shot with the blocked vent. I don't have a need to supply the rear seats with hvac anyway, as I never have any rear seat passengers.
BTW, I wedged the GPS between the windshield and dash on the passenger-side. It's an Earthmate that I had from my previous install, painted black. Originally I was going to bury it in the dash, but it wasn't getting a satellite lock there; on the dash it's working just fine.

This is probs a really newbie question but hey, what are you using to power youre pc, does it go from a specific car pc PSU to the ISO head unit harness?

I'm using a DSATX 220W power supply, which gets power directly from the battery, is grounded to one of the passenger seat bolts, and gets the turn-on signal from one of my switched accessory outlets.

More Power!
Ok, but does that mean if you forget to turn it off, it will stay on and drain youre battery?
And By the Way, sweet install man!

Thank you! =)
The short answer to your question is "no."
The DSATX (and others, such as Opus) PSU has an integrated startup/shutdown controller, so it will turn the PC on and off with the vehicle. On the DSATX, many features, including shutdown delay are adjustable (via the optional "Brainstem").

The front-end I'm using is Centrafuse; probably not a bad idea to include the rest of my PC's specs in a post...
Screen: Xenarc 700TS
Motherboard: Insight P4-ITX
Processor: P4 2.0 GHz
Memory: 512MB
Hard Drive: 2.5" 80GB
Front End: Centrafuse
PSU: DSATX 220W
USB Hub: D-Link 7-Port
GPS: Delorme Earthmate
Keyboard: Zippy EL-610
I think that's about it fow now...

Thanks for posting the pics of the 06 bezel in the dash.... looks like there is a slight difference in color, not to bad, but enough to notice. Unfortunatly, the wife who drives our Jeep daily isn't going to like that <g>.
I did find a place online who offers the '07 bezel for $98.00, shipping included (Airpark Chrysler Jeep). Darn good deal since most places are selling it for $140+!
As for overheating and under the seats, have you really ruled out the possibility of placing the computer elsewhere? Take a look under the rear seat bench --- you'll be suprised how much room is under there if you've never looked!
P.S. Back on the bezel, what did you use to fill in the gaps from the stock opening to the screen's opening? I saw the picture of like a plastic tray, but wasn't sure if that's what you used or what it was.
