I sure would hate to have it mess up my truck though and cause it to not start or something, specially if the SCT were to take a crap too then I wouldn't be able to change tunes back to the stock at least to get around. Any links to this mongoose cable that you speak of? is this another carpc to OBD II reader? I am planning on having a SCT regardless of if it does gauges or not, I can get the best tunes for my truck through an SCT and one of the custom tuner guys.

Good luck on your trip and safe travels. Thanks for the response.

Hey, just got back into town. Yeah, I also got the SCT for tuning. At the time (last october), the XCal3 had just come out and had alot of issues, so I got the XCal2. I don't know if they've resolved all of their problems yet. To answer your question, I don't think my xcal2 wasn't datalogging at the time. I will look into that, though. Also, I wouldn't worry about any permenant damage, because you can always reflash. My problems went away instantly when I unplugged the unit. Then they came back when I plugged it in again - and went away when I unplugged it again. I just haven't used it since then, but it still works fine for uploading tunes (I reflashed immediately after that incident).

The Mongoose is just an OBD-ii reader (may also write, I dont know), and here's the link: http://www.drewtech.com/products/mongoosepwm.html

It's overpriced, but from what I've read, I think that may be the only solution for reliable real time gauges. It's something I'll look into after I pay off my car.

Cool, thanks for the link. Definitely does look pricey, think thats gettin pushed pretty far down on the list lol, I still need exhaust and tuner and a bunch of other goodies on my list first lol. Planning on getting a bit of standard gauges as it is, just figured if I got a computer in there I mines-well try and make it do every darned thing possible lol.

I want to have a lower power setup in the future, but for now, I just used my old desktop gaming rig, which is all I have. Radeon X850XT video card is overkill for a 7" carputer screen and probably sucks up 100 watts by itself.. but it's all I have.

hey man sorry i took so long check out this thread i got some pics of the assembly i have

backup cam

Hi,

I really like the way you installed your backup cam and I'm going to do the same with mine, although I drive a different car.

But I wonder, what about the visible area, can you see the eadge of the rear bumper while your back run (e.g. parking)? Would be great if you posted here some screens what exactly the cam shows.
