Thanks for the compliments

I have 2 vga controllers ordered for the back screens.

Composite just looks terrible and I can't watch HD-Dvd or Blu-Ray on the back screens in clone mode. I guess it's that darn Copywrite or HDCP crap.

But with Vga controllers and a splitter I can put 1024x768 on all 3 monitors

Alright I got 2 vga controllers for the headrest monitors.

The headrest monitors had Toshiba LTA090B400F screens in them.

I contacted a friend in China who got me 2 Vga controllers for them and an extra screen since they needed a screen to program the controller. Total costs was $120

Yea kind of expensive but worth it.

Now the screens look razor sharp at 1024x768. I have a VGA splitter splitting the signal to the front and back screens. So now I can watch HD-Dvd and Blu-Ray in the front and back.

Well I had to special order them and they had to be programmed for the Lcd.

So a part # won't do you any good. It's probably just a generic controller that was programmed for the Lcd's. If you want to order the exact same controller for the same Lcd I can contact my friend and get you in contact with him.

Okay I got to snap a few pictures of the headrest. Notice the VGA cord I had to run a bit in view. It wouldn't fit inside the headrest pole like the power wires did.

The controller that was in it was a standard composite only controller. Here is what it looked like :

Now what I had to do was strip out the old controller and OSD boards. I left the buttons in. Then I bought some breadboard from Radioshack and cut it down to the size I needed for the OSD buttons. Then I soldered on 4 tact switches. Then I wired these to the OSD board that came with the new VGA controller :

Then I fit it all back in the headrest :

And here is the MUCH improved image at 1024x768. The grain and lines are from resizing the photo. Sorry.

I like what you did, looks great! How do you like running Vista? Media Center probably would be a good front end in itself. Those aviation screens are really nice to have, the cockpit of the F-22 is littered with them, when they say sunlight readable thats what they mean. Extremely expensive, but you get what you pay for.

WOW, why did I never see this post..... Im so jealous that you have so much trunk space with the 3rd row seats in place. I only have room for a small sub and 1 suit case. You most likely have more leg room. I dont know, I never liked headrest screens, especially on a 3 row car. I do like how you moded the screens though. If I would have seen this I would have kept the 9 inch screens i had for the sun visor screens I bought and ended up getting rid of. I opted for a 15 inch so the second and third can share it. All in all I love your install, its nice and clean. I am not sure about that stainless steel cover for the front screen, seems out of place, or should I say, it looks diffrent with a screen replacing everything else.

The front stainless steel cover is the factory cover adapted to fit the screen. I wanted it to look as stock as possible. I could have used a wood grain one from a Suburban but then it wouldn't have looked like the Yukon Xl dash.

Yea i know, but since it has the cuts.... it could be im just being picky since I hate stainless steel and chrome on a car. My rims arent going to even be chrome, but black and red.

Looks great for sure. I hope my shark screen doesn't get screwed up. So far it seems to be bright enough and easily readable for my tastes, but its also only been installed for a few days so far. I do miss not being able to go higher in resolution though, maybe later on down the road.

Yours looks totally OEM, would be nice to just get that top of the bezel in brushed aluminum to match the sides, but thats all I can even think of as a downside lol. The tray load dvd drive looks great the way you have it mounted too. Normally I don't like the tray load drives but how you have it makes it all the better I think.

Thanks man

The top piece is actually black from the factory, sort of stupid I know. I guess I could get a piece of stainless trim , but it would be hard to get it flush.

Great install...I just got a 08 Sequoia, and I'm thinking of going with a big screen. I liked the Avionics screen, but there is no way to use it with a touchscreen controller, right? It's just a screen...I'm not sure I can go for that. But maybe.

Again, congrats.

It's just a screen but it is very easy to buy a 10.4" touchscreen overlay for it if you want. I personally can not stand the reflections of a touchscreen and the way they get fingerprint smudges on them so I will not use one
