1993 Mitsubishi Verada KR

Hi Everyone,
These are my first and second attempts at a carputer i hope you like my thread and thank you for taking your time to see my work, there are going to be pleanty of enhancements in the future like Frets on fire(guitar hero simulator), rear dvd screens, etc.

Here is a list of the parts i used in the first version of my carputer
Parts Used for CarPC V1:

DELL Optimax(Optiplex or something like that)
P3 1.3ghz
512mb SDRam
10GB internal HDD
Internal Wifi
USB 5.1 Sound Card
7" touch screen(purchased on ebay)
TinyXP
RR
latest version of winamp
M2-ATX

Parts Used for CarPC V2:

VOOM 2 PC Case
Intel Atom D945GCLF
P4 1.6ghz
1G DDR Ram
20GB 2.5" HDD
160GB 2.5' ecternal HDD
3G 4 port router with WiFi
USB 3G internet stick with 2g download limit
USB 5.1 Sound Card
USB GPS module With FreeDrive Software
7" touch screen
TinyXP
RR
latest version of winamp
M2-ATX with P4 cable

Existing Car Audio :

BOSS splits
Sony 6x9's fitted on rear dash
12" Sony Sub
2 channel cadence Amp for Sub
4 channel sony amp for speakers

In order to fit the carputer screen i had to remove the existing stereo from the car, there was only enough space in the dash for a 7" screen without to much modification here are some photos of the removal of the old HU and me fitting the screen in place

i used the headrest fitting so i would have easy access to take the screen out when i needed to, so far it works great.

For my first attempt i used an old dell i had lying around, it was slow and it was big so i tried to cut down as much of the exterior as possible

this is what the case looks like when it had its dell cover taken off it

and this is what it looks like in the boot, it took up way to much room for my liking and and combined with the sub it was just to much

I ran this setup for a few months and it finally failed when the bios battery ran out, i couldnt be bothered trying to replace it so i decided an upgrade was in hand, i ordered all the new parts of either ebay or through the mp3car store luckily all this happened when the us dollar was so low so i snagged quite a few bargains ordering parts from the states

here are some new pics of the second car pc

The Fantastic looking VOOM 2 PC case

it works much faster and has great hibernation times it takes about 10 seconds for it to resume and about 5 seconds to go into hibernation
here are a few more pics just to fill out the collection

this is where i chose to put my WiFi anteanna and GPS module

This is my volt meter and my misile cover style switches for resetting the computer if necessary

OMFG, I love how fuking simple your screen was. You basically used a headrest version and stuck the shroud in the gap of you original bezel. Genius!!!!! I wish mine was that simple!

I originaly wanted to have 2 metres of cables behind the screen so I could take it out and use obd for engine diagnostics whilst working on the engine, but I don't mind how it looks with the surround kinda suits the car

It took me a few days but i got karaoke working i used UltraStar a singstar style program and i used the mics that came with my copies of guitar hero: wt and Rockband, there both logitec microphones i have them running off a powered usb hub in the back of the car,

This is UltraStar the only down fall of this program is that it requires the keyboard to navigate the menu
