Running active cross overs requires that the tweeter and the driver run off their own channel/line...
So basically, each L/R output jack on the sound card is going to a set of speakers...L is low-pass, for the driver, and R is hi-pass, for the tweeter
So, for just the front and rear speakers, there are 8 channels needed, which CAN be done with 1 sound card, but I also need a sub out and an output for the VU meters...

Aah, I get it now. This active crossover configuration might be something I'll attempt somewhere down the line.

These PRS's have a reputation for outstanding midrange punch...and I do mean punch! Just phenominal. If there is a weak area, it's the tweeter when used with the Pioneer crossovers. They can be a little sharp/harsh/fatiguing...
But I fixed that problem by running active cross overs! Tuned to my liking!

Kevlar woofer cones are sick! That is one killer setup! It would be nice to listen to your sound system. I was thinking we could have carpc meetings once a month or something, but dang, you're 3,237 kilometers away! lol

Thanks for addressing my questions!

Thanks!!!
ALL my exterior lighting is filament-less, except the high beams...either LED or HID all around

love it, the fx projectors are so nice too. did you see any big difference with swapping the lense?

also, why a filament high beam? did you not use the bi-level of the fx projector?

The Retrofit Source lenses are water clear, whereas the FX lenses, while clear, aren't perfectly clear...
The RS lenses were made just for the FX's...
Basically, slightly more output, way sharper cutoff, and some nice purple colour at the cutoff line as well.
I bought the 'flawed' ones for $35...couldn't see anything wrong with them at all, and they guarantee whatever flaw they have won't effect the output, so...

About the high-beam, your correct in that they are bi-xenon, but my headlights also have a second pair of halogen reflectors that kick-on with the highbeam as well

There are so many great things about this project.

I love the powermate integration
... the cleanliness of the install
... homemade interconnects
... the water cooling
... the choice of component speakers
... the upgraded sound card
... the subwoofer
... the active crossover setup
... the fact that you actually used REAL HID projectors as opposed to some kit in a stock housing
... the outside LED's

very good setup. I will be checking back with this one as a good reference when I build mine

Thanks MK17...
I'm a vocal opponent agains those dudes driving around with kitted HID's, or even worse, the HID's in halogen REFLECTOR housings...
Simply, the stupidest fad in recent memory!

They always get the high-beam treatment from me when I pass them!

OMG, I never saw this, well not the whole thing, not much on the CF forums, lol.... Now I finally seen it from start to finish. Your car is nice!!!!!!!!! So you have tweeters also. How exactly do you install them? I think I read you have to use cross overs, but anything else required? I want to add tweeters to my car also.

So did you retrofit them yourself? If so, do you have any pics or another thread describing it. I didn't know htere was the retrofit source, I'm going to have to check them out and may do some HIDs in my truck. I'm just a lil worried about doing HID's because I'm already lifted which mean I'd have to aim really low to not blind people.

HIDPlanet forums are a good place to start...lots of good info. You might even see my old Ford Focus how-to with my old E55 projectors!

Yeah, the CF forum doesn't really have a catagory for this exactly...lol

And thanks!

Yup, tweeters...2-way speakers in each corner...in my car, I'm running 'active' crossover, so there is seperate speaker wiring running from the speakers all the way to my amps...
The tweeters are on a seperate channel than the drivers are.
On a 'passive' crossover setup, you basically use hardware crossovers instead of processing the audio. All in all, they acomplish the same thing really...
Here is a pic of one of the crossovers (which I Ebay'd)

If you want to go with tweeter, then you'll want crossovers.
Some 'co-axial' speakers (which are 2 and 3 way) have a basic kinda crossover already made up on the speakers themselves...
