Thx! I have only found very few 200SXīs with PCīs installed. I love the S15 but I donīt like the fact that the steering wheel is on the wrong side for finnish roads...

There has been a few S15 conversions to LHD. There was a guy looking at putting together a kit which included the dash. I am not sure what happened to the project tho.

Alps EC11B series encoder with push switch function soldered to mouse PCB, works like a charm except that the PCB is 5cm to big So,

Did some cutting on the mouse PCB and soldered a some header pins to it for the encoder.

Bottom side of small mouse PCB. Connected the header pins with jumper cables.

Can you tell me how to make this volume knob from old mose or show where is some tutorial ? I can't find this on forum :/
Are any drivers need this for XP ??

The motherboard is a desktop motherboard, a ITX board. I have powered the motherboard with a M2-ATX DC-DC powersupply which gives 150W. This powersupply handles the power on and shutdown functions itself via the powerswitch header on the motherboard.

In princip you could use a PS/2 mouse as such as a volume controller but as I wanted to have a more OEM look I made some changes to the mouse so that I get the OEM volume controller feel / look.

I canīt really pin point a tutorial how to make this volume control, but here is one link: $10 volume knob fabbed.

Basically what you need to do is find a old PS/2 mouse which has got a rotary encoder on the wheel axle and replace the encoder with for example as I did with a ALPS EC11B encoder. The Alps EC11B encoder has got a in-built switch so with this you get both rotary movement and push movement. You donīt need any drivers for a PS/2 mouse but Girder or Volumouse is needed to make the fabbed mouse control the volume. I can post my Girder configuration file here if you want (I canīt now because I donīt have access to the file in my car).

If I forgot to mention something please ask.

A detailed write-up on this would be fantastic.

Wow man, this is amazing.

I have been thinking about doing something like this so I can tune my ECU when I get it. Datalogging, realtime afr adjustments and such.

If you use the head unit for powering your door speakers, and not an aftermarket 4 channel, how would you send the signal to the speakers? Do you still have to have the headunit somewhere?

Also, what is the total cost of this if you don't mind me asking? PM me if you aren't comfortable posting it up here.

One more question, what kind of software are you running on there? I see some obviously running windows, and I see some with a custom nissan screen with some selections on the left and right such as Music, ECU, Video, etc.

Welcome to mp3car (noticed that this was your first post )

Getting a diagnostic cable for my Nissan and to hook it up to the CarPuter is next on my todo list. If I want to tune the ECU I need to get a daughter board for the ECU so that I can read and write to it. For datalogging and normal diagnostics it is just plug-n-play.

I you want to use a headunit it needs to be one with AUX IN, on some headunits it is possible to use the CD changer input also. No I donīt have any headunit only a 4-channel amplifier under the passenger seat.

Total cost so far should be around 500€. This should cover everything related to the CarPuter, also cabling, amplifier...

RideRunner is my selection for the frontend and I am using WinXP as OS.

Sorry for not answering this but I donīt have enough pictures to make a write-up. If you read all these I think you should be able to fix this, it is not really hard at all.

There are a lot more threads in the input devices category here, those were just examples. Or you could also get for example a Griffin Powermate but this was not an option for me as I am very strict on the OEM look.

Nice Install

Just a couple of questions, what size screen did you fit ?
What are you using to hold the facia panel in place as it looks like the original nissan metal work wont fit anymore ?

Thanks.

Thanks to you too.

The screen is a 7" widescreen.

Only modded the facia panel to fit the screen. So in other words the nissan metal work holds the panel in place.

Here you can see the backside with the metal work and screen in place. Fits like a glove
