I've got a 4.0 L I6 Jeep Wrangler and the closest thing to a Car-puter is an Ipaq 5450 at the moment... Not bad at all, but the FM-transmittor is quite poor...

Enjoy!

Look forward to seeing the finished thing.. the dash looks great!

my xj has a v6

Only if you swapped it in yourself.

Unless you've done some custom work (would like to see it if you have!) then your engine is a straight configuration. If it's a 4.0 L then it has 6 cylinders, but a lot of people assume that a V goes infront of the 6. It doesn't.

As far as I know, XJ's didn't leave the factory with a V6.

For future reference: back when Jeep was owned by GM the 84-86 Jeep Cherokee came with a GM 173 or a 2.8L V6.

good ol JU! ho ware things over there?

i used to frequent those forums but stopped about 6 months ago because i wasn't going to get money for my lift any time soon and didn't want to tease myself.

those guys can be kinda high and mighty if your rig actually looks good. in their eyes a jeep is only cool if it looks like $h!t.

well now that we've went and hijacked BQs post...

Ok - Live and learn... how's that V6 running?

Sorry

Freestyler, How're you liking that smiley graphic

Remind me what your username is on JU? Huge amount of people over there now... same old trolls in OT but whatever.

Yeah the "It's just a Jeep, why bother?" attitude to me is like degrading your own vehicle. It's like sure, throwing $1,500 at your stereo system seems excessive to some... but others would find $5,000 in suspension absurd. Do what ya want IMO.

Just Empty Every Pocket

What am I doing here? Well I'm studying Computer Science for a start... and can't stand CD's that have only a couple songs you like... solution? Ipaq + 1GB card! It'd be nice to have a complete computer set up, but with this I can turn it on instantly, turn it off instantly, and keep it with me when I go on foot.

At the moment I'm just looking around... I want to seriously upgrade my audio system when I've got the money... current one sucks bad and the FM Modulator isn't helping matters much...

Marine-grade AUX-IN for the upgrade

Take a look if you want...

They're not jumping on me too hard

Shakes, it's ok on there... as I said a bit overrun by lame trollers... but there's still some good characters on there...

I totally understand what you mean about teasing yourself... some of those Jeeps have realllly nice set ups.. Daless2's is a great rig... fully computer controlled air-bag suspension.

JU is good for the occasional new cheap-yet-effective tricks...

And yeah I get ragged for the Chrome bumper - but I wanna get rid of that at some stage anyway.

I spend wayyyy too much time on there.

Anyways, sorry for the V6 confusion... it's just there's wayyyy too many adverts on Ebay advertising the TJ-Wrangler as a V6! lol...

Sorry for the interruption

no prob, the V6 2.8L is too weak for a cherokee, I should have gotten the one with the 4.0L. I just had it rebuilt (new heads etc) @ 126K miles and its still kind weak for my taste. Oh well, Im prob selling it this week for $2500. now I need to find an AWD car or a Jetta

sorry about the hijacked thread too to whom it may concern

I'm dejaydreams over there

The ipaq is like i stated a good solution for someone that doesn't want to leave it in the jeep all the time, i do get quite worried at times about leaving the stuff in the jeep, but that's what insurance is for right?

Guitar, hate to see someone leave the Jeep family... hows about you just get a 4.0 XJ

Hope you're happy with whatever you get though...

Ah yes - Dejaydreams rings a bell The Ipaq is also a very good solution for someone who already has an Ipaq and wants a basic carputer without spending even more money
