are you just useing the lcd in radio? that is a real slick setup does the radio still show output on the lcd as well as the computer?

There is just no middle ground for you on the screens, huh? from 10.4 to 2.4!!

what did you use to for the radio buttons and controls? does the cd/fm/am on the radio still function like norm and the computer is plugged in as aux?

great work on converting the dash!

I used Double Din radio as a shell so all the internals are out and computer is put instead.

To get radio buttons working i based schematics on Sony RM-X2S remote, when modded, connects to game port. Between each button is a resistor and everything is wired in series, therefore when held it sends different value signal.

How is your setup coming out, managed to get Allbrite fully working?

I had this setup for well over a year.
At first i used lcd a lot (as everyone here) but as the time passed i didnt find it necessary since i had sony remote to control winamp and i wasnt in need to use gps.
This time it will be more of a stealth setup where you wont able to notice the difference until given features are used
Soon ill get one more lcd (2.5") to be mounted in gauge cluster in order to display ...well everything, with main goal of GPS. But, biggest issue is software right now...definately not enough support for graphic LCDs nor miniature (less than 5in) screens.

How long does it take you to get the dummy on there? It looks great, I was thinking of doing something like that except using magnets to hold it over the dash/lcd that would elliminate any chances or scratching the screen.

Since i had experience with sony steering wheel remote i used the same basics but instead of the remote i wired radio buttons in series with resistor between them. Took lots of time, cutting the board and resoldering the tracks.
here is the more info about sony remote http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/input-devices/21978-sony-joystick-commander.html

I was wondering if you have any in-progress pics of the rear of the double din you gutted? specifically, I'm interested in seeing how things are arranged back there (PCB for the buttons, etc) to see what is involved in interfacing the buttons and such. did you interface any of the knobs, or just the buttons? your use of the double din unit has given me some ideas and inspiration for my setup (mkIII jetta)
