Talking 1992 EG9 Civic VTi Saloon CarPC - Installed & Working !!!

Well I finally managed to get it all in and working. After much messing about and difficulty in deciding where what's going to go where. Here it is, My CarPC or HondaPC as it's now called.

I put the keyboard in the glove box, carpeted to keep things tidy. The actual PC is in the boot, spec as follows:

Shuttle XPC SS51G Main Unit (Barebones)
Intel Celeron 2.4ghz CPU
512mb PC2700 Ram
40gig Hard Drive
16X DVD Drive
GeForce 2 GTS 64mb DDR Graphics
Lilliput 619GL-70NP (XGA) withTouchscreen (7.2" fitted in JDM Double-Din Audio Center Consol)
Haicom H203-E GPS Reciever (Mounted Under the rear Center Consol top)
Trust USB Webcam, Facing forward (Mounted on Rear Parcel Shelf)
USB2.0 Throughout also running an 8 port USB Hub in rear center consol along with a USB2.0 6 in 1 Digital camera card reader.
Triple shielded AudioPhile Cable's throughout.
Currently powered by a 330 watt (600watt MAX.) 12 Volt to 240 Volt Invertor. Extra battery in boot run by a Split-Charge Relay.

All audio running through current ICE setup, Consisting of:
Kenwood KDC7024 Dual face CD/Tuner/MP3 Headunit using an adapter that converts the Multi-Changer input to AUX. input. Vibe 5.5" Front Components, Standard rear speakers, 12" Sub with a crappy 300watt Amp.

Current Software List:

Windows XP Pro. w/Service Pack One, Media Player 9, Media Engine 2.0 touchscreen interface. Infomap Navigator (Voice guidence GPS Software)

I also have 2 micro (Size Of A Stamp) color video camera's with sound that are going to mounted in interesting places and run through a WinTV USB card for capturing. The webcam then will be used as a rear view.

Current capable uses are GPS Navigation, MP3 playback (Currently have 4000 mp3's onboard) DVD/VCD/DViX Also have Hondata loaded as well, just waiting for relevant leads to connect .

Basically so far this setup has cost something in the region of £1100 but I really do think it is worth it. Looks good and sounds great. Also not too many of this type of setup about at the moment. The hardest part of all was sorting out the keyboard, but got it in in the end. Just need to mount a couple of blue L.E.D.'s to light it up cos I can't see it at night.

So people, as always...Wadya think.....I am well pleased with the 'End' result though with this type of thing and knowing me - It will never be finished...

Lots of work but worth it in the end...

I can now get some sleep.....

Regards

Chris

Cool

My, my u have been busy Chris!!!

U must have too many spare evenings and don't feel the cold as much as me!!

I will get on with mine over Xmas but still running the lappy at the mo, full PC built just waiting for a decent evening to test.

How are you getting on with the invertor power bit, i see u are using a second battery any chance of a wiring diag for your split charge. My batt is in the boot (bonus) so wiring should be easy.

Carry on the good work!!

Regards
