This should look amazing...if you need a guinea-pig for testing... ...my E36 could always use a new mod. Can't wait to see this!

Rich, what is this part?
Since I had the OEM GPS unit in mine before I installed the touchscreen, I'm finding that I had to build up the little ledges on the sides of the "hole" in the dash where your trim was installed. Rather than doing this, I'm wondering if I get this part, if the trim will fit securely against that and not move when I press the touchscreen. If this is the case, where can I get this part?

That's the bracket that supports the oem radio and AC. I'll pm you the part number. It sells for around $40.

Thanks - do you think it would solve my problem of the back of the screen trim not laying flush with the edges of the dash without building it up with something else?
Again, for anyone else reading, this is only a problem for me since I had the BMW GPS unit rather than the normal radio unit. The trim seems to lay flush for everyone else.

Also, if anyone has this part that they want to sell me... this part is way more than $40 from the dealerships (I called 3 of them to be sure).

Yeah, that bracket holds it in place perfectly.
Also, I have one I can sell you for $20.

I really hope, maybe pair of them - two black ones. We also feel afraidness x5es of such customisations, but (direct translation from russian) - time treads... There is nice removable medcine box under the front pass seat (for replace it with compcase)
Bytheway, HERE the first variant, but not the one I've looking for.
Thanks for reply.

Thanks a lot. Idea is clear looking first pic with. Now pics are collected for intention enlargement. Last pair are much better. Maybe for new one it is good to make bezel of two parts - light beige + redwood imitation? That is for girl.
OK, seems new tread for x5 appears http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=71457
