Thanks for the picture! Exactly what I needed to see. Also, did you run a power line the same way or did you run it in a seperate location?

Yes I ran all of the wires the same way. There really wasnt any other way to do it. I havent noticed any more or less interferance since I moved it so I will probably leave it the way it is.

Thanks.

I went totally ghetto but you can't tell from the outside and I never even had to crack open the screen case.

I used a dremel to remove the back top of the radio bezel. I then removed a good chunk out of the bottom of the bezel. You will no longer be able to use the screws to fasten in the bezel but the screen is so light that the 4 clips keep it in perfectly.

I then inserted 3 small tie wraps through the slotted vents at the top of the screen. Then I drilled a hole on each side of the back part of the bezel. I inserted 2 long tiewraps through the holes in the side and through each loop I had made using the small tie wraps. I then inserted a small rod thought the loops as well. After that I pulled all of the wraps tight. I now had a secure connection at the top of the screen.

Next I removed the top half of the stand that comes with the lilliput and fastened it to the back. I installed it so that the bottom half pushes against the bezel. When the bezel is put back in the dash, the bottom part of the dash frame pushes against this and secures the connection.

This is the final result from the back:

And this is how it looks from the front:

And this is how it looks from the side:

You won't be able to see the top half of the gauges from the drivers seat but it doesnt bother me. I know what each setting is and they are are not obstructed in any way in terms of turning the knobs.

Thanks for the pics and info. I got restless before you posted how you did yours. I started mounting mine a bit differently. I am going to be able to pivot the screen up and down. I will post pics when I am done.

hey, i have an 01 expy sport and i did a very similar install. I was able to fit my travla C134 behind the LCD which i also mounted in the front bezel. I did however cut out the bottom of the bezel so the screen sits flush in the bezel, not over handing like yours. I was also able to barely squeeze in my pioneer HU below the guages but i had to use the top of the center console to do it and it has to aim down at like a 60 degree angle. Everything works fine and everything is very concealed. If you need pics to see what i'm talking about let me know.

Are you trimming the bezel of the screen or leaving it intact like I did? I would like to see a picture when you are done.

I have just read too many horror stories involving poor bastards that have broken this ribbon cable or shorted that connector and have reduced there screen into a 300 dollar night light. That is why I didnt trim off the bottom part and mount it flush. I would still like to see how yours turned out though.

I would also like to see how you were able to squeeze a PC behind there. I could have put my cappuccino PC back there but I was concerned with overheating. I had issues with heat when it was in my glove compartment.

sorry, i meant i trimmed the bottom of the dash bezel off so that the LCD sits nice and flush in there, rather then how you have the bottom of yours coming up and over the part that i trimmed. I think my case is smaller then yours, but it fits just like the brain to my panasonic LCD did.

How did you get it to be flush without cutting the dash itself? I didnt want to cut the plastic bar the screws had gone into in case I ever want to return it to factory sepcs. Do you have pictures of how you mounted it?

i cut the plastic bar that the screws go into. The AC controls still mount fine and the screen sits flush inside. Pictures can be found here:

wkolodny - Im starting on my 2001 sport and have a few more questions.

1) Did you remove the console entirely or just the tops parts when you ran the wires?
2) Did you have to remove the seats to take out the carpet?

Thanks for all your help. I hope my install winds up looking as nice as yours.

The top part of the console just pops out. There are a couple of tabs locking it in on each side in the middle and front of the console. I then ran the wires down through the opening and out the sides by the seats. You can then puch the rest of the wires under eaither side as you run it to the back.

As for the carpet, if you have a sport trac then it just unclips very easily. If not I cant help you there.

Much better sound

I have always been pretty happy with the sound coming out of my coffee PC but I had heard the external USB sound devices were better. I picked up a Creative Labs MP3+ external USB sound card.

I couldnt believe the improvement in sound quality. The internal sound card was like listening to music with ear muffs compared to the quality I now get.

It also had another unexpected benefit. I had a Radio Xtreme USB radio and I had pretty much abandoned using it due to the engine whine. Well I tried connecting it to the Line In from the MP3+ and guess what? No more whine.

Overall I would HIGHLY recommend getting one of these puppies if you own a cappuccino pc or just dont have room in your case for a better sound card. Plus they are cheap. Only about 30 bucks on ebay.

It will not work if you dont do this. I found out the hard way.

I'm confused.. Why did you use an ITPS if you don't provide the regulated power? I thought the point of the ITPS is so if the car goes over 12V the ITPS will regulate that power so only 12V will go to your PC PSU? If you apply a solder bump doesn't it totally remove the ITPS functions?

If you look closely you will see a small switch attched to my new 9 pin connector. The switch is wired to both sides of the screen power button. When it is in the ON position you can still manually turn the screen off and on by hitting any button besides the power button.

Can you explain this a bit more? How can I have my Lilli turn on when my truck turns on?

And one last question.. Have you changed your LCD setup anymore yet? I have a Ranger and will be doing something similar to yours and I was just wondering..

Thanks
