I've just done installing my carputer on my 03' Maxima. Took some pics please refer to the link below. Dumbest installation ever I guess, but enough to serve my purpose

2 questions:

1. how did you mount your lilli? any issues with pushing the TS and the monitor moving?

2. Are you worried about mounting everything to the sub-box? all that stuff is sensitive to both vibration and EMF forces from a magnet.....

Just a thought.

I slided the rear end of Lilli's metal base into a gap, and for the front end I used super strong double sided tape to stick it on the console. The base's pretty sturdy just the monitor itself vibrates a little when I use the touch screen.

As for mounting on the sub, I found that's the quickest+most space saving way to install inside my trunk so that's the first idea I came up with =) I read some posts on magnetic field, most say that it doesnt hurt the HDD, if it does later then I'll switch to a 2.5" notebook HDD instead and put it somewhere else.

As for vibration, I don't see a lot of posts regarding how to eliminate/weaken it..I think it won't hurt much right? Maybe a smaller HDD is more prone to vibration? Anybody has a solution?

Interesting pics and great setup.

I looked at your 'suspension' system with great interest actually. I noticed that you have springs on the bottom to hold the DVD/HDD up but there's no springs at the head of the screws to keep it from slamming upwards. (I hope I explain that well enough). It seems to me that you'll hit a bump, the spring will do their job and keep the DVD/HDD from hitting the box, but the springs will also push them up to the top of the travel, hitting the head of the screw. Wouldn't that be just as bad? Just a thought. I'm really not trying to down your system. I know there's been a lot of talk about using suspension systems or not. I'm sure you'll find out if this works well or not thru trial and error, but I still have to tip my hat for such simple but functional 'suspension'.

One other thing I saw that I had a question about was your GPS mouse. That looks alot like the ebay mouse that every one has seen and many people are using. It also looks like, from the pic, that there is a red LED that is lit when this is in use. Did you do something to cover up this LED or do you have a red light on top of your car when you go down the road?

Sorry for so many questions. Please don't think I'm trying to pick on your system. Your system works... that's a lot more then I've done.

You're right for sure, I thought of that but the springs were out of stock in home hardware for now, that's why

I'm going to put a washer at the top of the screws then springs underneath it, so two springs supporting the hardware, then it may work better....(of coz w/ longer screws)

I didn't cover that LED on the GPS, do you mean that the cops may stop me for that? I even thought about mod-ing it to a blue LED ...

Ahh.. OK, that explains it.

It's very possible they could stop you for it. They tend to frown on such things and depending on what state you live in, the laws could easily be 'bent' to let them bug you about it. Good thing it doesn't blink or someone might confuse you for a 747.

Good job. Is that the ebay GPS?? How's it working for you?

Heh, creative points for how you mounted the motherboard, but just a word of advice, how stiff are those springs you're using? If they give easily, especially with two, you could easily set the drive into oscilation and kill it in very short order.

Man, put something to cover up your circuits..

I cant think what happens if water gets spilled in there without you knowing

Looks good though, man I envy modern cars =P

No that's not the ebay one, but I agree it really looks like one

. I got it from a local store in vancouver (canada). It's packaged in a plastic enclosure and it has a model number "TN-200". It works flawlessly, I don't know when to start the timer for timing a "cold start", but everytime it is able to locate my position in less than 10 seconds after I've loaded up my GPS software.

Know what, I actually like seeing the circuits spreading everywhere...heh
Hopefully I won't get any water in as Im going to be extra cautious on that.

Or maybe just wrap the whole thing using food wrap

nice setup, now all you need to do is swap out that thunder6000 for a JL w6

.....its nice to see a high-end gfx card in the computer, as well as the SBLive. Just a question since i'm so dumb with electronics - is the cap you're using hooked up to the computer in any way, or is that just for the sub/amp circuit? Looks like youve got a whole lotta wires running thru it

omg that sub is going to own the hard drive... as for the motherboard depending on how you play your bass that is going to rattle apart...

Except for the video & sound cards (that I've secured them on the sub), what else on the MB that could rattle apart?
