I found out the other day they are eventually moving to Plano, so it will be right in your area It looks like you really know your stuff. Was wondering if you would be interested in giving me some tips or possably helping me when I eventually get my project underway in my bimmer. btw, killer car!

Awesome. I do find it kind of funny that they get the dealership to the current location, looking nice, upgrading everything ( i remember when they were using tiny computers with nothing but orange text on screen, and a waiting room about the size of my bedroom ) and now they will move again. Go figure. Someday I must see your ride. Who is your Service Advisor @ Classic?

to be honest i don't have a service advisor yet. so if you want to private message me your dads name, i'll be glad to use him here very soon. it's almost time for my first service. i understand how the hours are calculated for the service advisors and will be glad to send my business his way. and possibly if i screw something up electroniclly he might be a little more forgiving if you are into this as well

FattyTl, sounds like you got a very nice system. Do you have any pics? I too have a 2002 BMW 325 that I'm going to put a carputer in soon. I'm curious as to what software you are using (mediacar/media engine). Are you having any flickering issue with your touchscreen. I'm powering mine with the power from the headunit and it is flickering alot. Also, how are you interfacing the IBUS interface to the carputer (location/software)?? Thanks -Andy

03 BMW 330i Dinan S3 Project
let me start out by saying this project is not finished, but i am hoping to be done either this weekend or next... depending on my hangover schedule. so i will post pics as soon as i am done. but here's what we got so far.
BMW OEM and Aftermarket equipment
- BMW business radio (in dash cd player but i just ordered the MD or Mini Disc business radio from Australia. i have way to many of those to be wasting. i have been using that technology for 12 yrs now.)
- BMW Bluetooth phone kit
- Phatbox
- BMW Sirius Satellite Radio
- Aux (for the puter of course!)
........................
I would like to know from which web-page are you purchasing the radio and how have you installed an aux input in your bmw? thanks

Great job. Would like to see pics. Do you have any tips for the IBUS hack? I just got a 2004 330i delivered and getting ready to start my project. I am trying to get over the stomach ache that I feel doing this to a brand new BMW. Lots of research and inspirations like you are helping me get over it. Any tips or tricks would be helpful!

Damn, that's just crazy! I think you just set a record by beating the guy with a Solaris server in his trunk!

hey fattytl, sounds like you're going to have one kick-arse system there!
i'm getting an e46 m3 in a few weeks and pretty much have my carpc system ready to go.
the two things i haven't finalized are the trunk layout and physical i-bus connection. i already have the serial-to-ibus interface but haven't narrowed down the location of the 3-pins, they're somewhere in the trunk! if you locate them before me could you please be so kind as to take a picture or describe where they are? of course, the minute i find them ill post pics here.
to everyone else w/ bimmers, can't wait to see your setups either!

Year old thread back from the dead...
Anyway, I guess it's a good time to mention that that new bill actually made that emitter illegal in most states...

fattytl,
What type and size motherboard are you using that will fit in your glovebox. I have been contemplating this setup in my 325i. Also, if you have finished the install are you having any heat issues with the p4 or amd in the glove box. Are you also installing the harddrives in the glove box? Love to see some pics!!! Sounds like a sick setup!!!
