Just want to say this project is still on. I decided to go with a different screen though. Here is the screen I ordered:
XENARC 700IDT™
7" IN-DASH LCD Monitor w/ VGA & Touch Screen

http://www.xenarc.com/product/700IDT.html

Hopefully in a few weeks all will be done. What's this about the HP not outputting enough signal? If so, I guess I'll have to use my work laptop and the extra docking station.

Not that I know of. When should I expect it? I think Ken said it is supposed to ship this week.

My screen finally arrived Monday. The Xenarc 700IDT's were on backorder like a mofo. Anyway, here it is: http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showt...96#post1592696

Here are some pictures of my car fresh out of the body shop:

The hood is actually a Fiber Images Blue-weaved Kevlar hood, and not your average Carbon Fiber hood. It has to be about 10-15 LBS at most! To see the bright blue weave, you have to see it in person. It NEVER shows up in pictures.
The new, bigger Front Mount InterCooler is missing from the lower front grille. When I get time, it will be installed.

The price of the screen was a hookup.

I just re-imaged my HP Pavilion N5190 to Windows XP instead of the craptastic Windows ME. Routis is installed, and so is my Halwin software (Haltech E6X) for my engine management. I will be installing the touch screen software later today.

Testing Update!

I hooked up a power supply to the screen today, and am actually posting this post using the screen right now. The resolution is great, and the screen is bright! Here are some pictures of the test power-up:

Installed pictures.

The screen is not permenantly installed. I am having issues with the power cable clearing the metal frame behind the dash. Anyhow, this is how it looks in my car:

As you can see, it protrudes a little, but not too much!

I will have to get my hands on a hammer and work out the metal frame issues behind the dash.

Ok, I got the monitor to fit. It definitely protrudes out, and says "here I am!" I still have to hook up power, and mount my laptop. I also finally stowed my Haltech E6X away, and put my passenger side floor back together again.

How far does it protrude?

And from a thief's view...

The website where the pictures are hosted had its bandwidth limit exceeded. I don't think I connected it directly to the battery. Should I have?

Glad I went with the Xenarc now. It works fine.

Well xenarc lcd´s have input voltages of 11-24v, so it should be ok

Did you connected to your Psu 12v ?

Are you satisfied with the indash monitor even if it protrudes a little??

Does the touchscreen works fine ?Can you see well during the day ?
