I'm a member of some online VW forums (vwvortex.com). Many of the members on there have taken apart their cars for other reasons (stereo install, alliminum dash, etc). They were cool enough to post some "how-to's". This was extremely helpful because otherwise it's easy to miss a hidden screw or clip and end up breaking/cracking the plastic interior pieces.
You can also go to a auto store and get a Bentley manual for your car. They usually have illustrated instructions on how to dissassemble almost anything on cars!
Do you have the link to those how to`s in vwvortex.com , ive searched but found nothing helpfull.....

What do you need to know? I've pretty much taken apart my car for no apparent reason.
same user name "samc" on the vortex.

Do you have any wiring diagram ?Its so many wires that i dont know where to start...Im just waiting for my monitor to start installing.
How do you pass the power cable to the trunk to feed the amp and the opus?
Is there a hole you can use, ive investigated but found nothing.....My friend has a Bmw and he is lucky has bmw`s have the battery on the trunk.

Nice Install, how did you connect the wires for the sound? since you removed your stock cd player and installed LCD inplace of it.

You could probably keep the cup holders if you don't install a drive in the front. I don't know if I would want to put wet stuff that close the LCD, though.

I ripped a IDE -> USB 2.0 Adapter from a external case and used that for the in-dash front slot-load DVD/CDR combo drive.
is the DVD combo powered by the USB 2.0?

No. I run the 5v rail from the Opus power supply in the trunk to the front.

The PC is in the trunk. I had pictures of the PC but removed them. I should have new updated PC pics tomorrow.
The DVD drive is in the front, in the dash, under the LCD. It's connected to a IDE -> USB2 converter. There's a USB cable running from the front to the PC in the trunk.
*UPDATED PICS* 05/21/05 - New pictures of the dash.

The IDE -> USB2 converters I've seen around all have a power cord with them that seems to plug in. How did you set that up or did you find a converter without the power cord?
I've looked around and haven't seen one.
