2004 Hummer H2 4 Displays including fold down 23" Plasma Screen

Hello to all the MP3CAR.COM members. I have been reading these forums for years and these formums have inspired me to add a lot of features you see in my installs. We have just completed the most incredable Carputer install.

Car:
2004 Hummer H2

System:
Mobile Warrior II P3 600Mhz (Out preforms VIA 1Ghz while using the same amount of power)
256Mb Ram
8X DVD
60Gb 2.5" Hard drive
Custom power supply with shutdown controller
GPS
Wireless internet access with T-Mobile
Four displays

Displays
Molded into the front dash is a sun-light readable 10.4" Display
Two 7" Displays are mounted in the head rests
The back of the car has a 23" Plasma Screen that folds up and down with an electric motor

Software
Developed by 12vsystems.com ESXManager with GPS/Camera/DVD/AVI/Jukebox/MP3 Player/Completly skinable interface . Software is currently only sold with Mobile Warrior systems, we hope to make it available to the public later this year.

System cost with displays $7500
Installation by www.vipwow.com complete custom dash and motor mountings for rear display $8000

Total System cost $15500

Things we are planning on adding in the future.
voIP phone intergration
am/fm radio

I wish I could afford a car like this.

I have tons of photos of this install up on our website.

Pair 15" Subs in the back

15" One on each side. If you turn the volume up on this thing you'll lose your teeth.

LCD vs Plasma

Why? It was the best display I could find under $2500 and it had the bracket on the back that was easy to mount to the motorized control arm we created.

Plasma displays are normally brighter then LCD's.

Damn

Why did they mount a 23" Screen in the back. Who's going to see it?

I took a look at your site. The software looks cool, when are you going to make it available to the public?

In your first post you said you were going to use VOIP how is that going to work?

Your install looks sweet. Super pro.
Kudos

System is teh coolness

Vehicle is teh gheyness

Honestly though, it seems like a very professional installation, but dang $15000? I'm not dissing you guys...if you can get the dough, why the heck not. I've seen lots of "professional quality" installations posted here (in particular, the BMW dash one) done for pennies, and personally I am much more impressed by those. Oh and Frodoplayer is the shiznits.

ZenerDiode. You make a good point, I am always more impressed people that do everything themselves. For years I was pulling apart laptops in my garage and modifying them so they would work in cars, but you run across so many little problems that you can never build them efficently enough to make them worth selling.

I am now a full time carputer guy and I am doing this professionaly (thank god I left my crappy network admin job). The customers I am finding want the best and are not about to argue over costs. They are know where near as technical as us and they want the job done right the first time. I remember as a carputer guy I use to hate those type of people but it's harsh economics that if I want to this full time I need these sort of people. And lets face it all of us wish we could play with carputers all day.

As for frodoplayer it's nice but our software has some neat stuff frodo's doesn't. I don't want to go in to detail until we are ready to release this to the public.

The sunlight readable 10.4" display was a prototype I got from All American. The display gets brighter as sun shines on it. I don't know if I would use it again there are $1500 reasons not to but it is by far the best display I've seen so far.

wow, when you say "gets brighter as the sun shines on it" is that some sort of transflective coating? and special mirrors, and lens sheets behind the tft panel? 1500?? ouch!!! that is crazy. nice work, And it is good to hear that anyone is getting to do this for a living! I am truly envious Good luck.
