Yes, I am feeding the amps from the HU with a help of a LOC (since the 6 does not have RCA OUT) I have 1 Amp for the Sub and 1 Amp for the Rear speakers. And Yes I control the volume from the HU or the Steering Wheel controls.

I got one from this website: Navone
The model # is NE-8V
It works great and I can adjust the output as I wish.

Thanks, I think Imma pick one up for my 3, so i can upgrade the speakers, get an amp, and keep the steering wheel controls. Those are the greatest invention ever, lol. Just be able to hit mute at a whim.

Hey, I know I'm resurrecting an oldish thread but did you ever get any farther on that install? I have the exact same car and I'm working on the same install but motorized from the get-go on the screen. It would be cool to compare notes.

I am interested in knowing if this project went on? I too have the same car. It would be great if all Mazda owners could network with each other and give ideas, and pros and cons towards modifications.

Hey agzturn! I agree. I just got my hands on a wonderful 2003 Mazda 6i and I too am addicted about this hole carputer thing. I have been gather information like mad. I really don't feel like frying my car and less importantly frying the PC that I put in.

My nagging question is to all those who own a Mazda 6 and have successfully installed a carputer, everyone seems to be using a 7" touch screen. Why not the 8"? I take it the touch screen will not fit? Has anyone actually tried to fit in an 8" touch screen?

Nope... I was not able to come up with a motorized solution for the screen as of yet... I'll be looking at diferent solutions to that... but for now, it is mounted to the top of the lid and it swings out as I open it, with the help of a spring. and it stays very tight in it rest position when open...

How did actually mount the GPS? I want to mount the GPS in the same place, but I how do you get the wires to power? Do you have to drill a hole or something. I am from Norway and I do not have any experience in this
