2003 Mazda 6 project

First, I would like to thank everybody in this forum for all the tips, tricks and solutions. A special Thanks goes to Frodo for the amazing Front End and Rando for the USB 5v cut off solution. Because of this forum I was able to get this project installed and running. And I got to say… I had fun doing it.

The PC specs are:
Xenarc 700TSV
Via Epia M10000
1gb of Ram
200gb 3.5” Hard Drive
Opus 150w w/ Rando USB 5v mod
Win XP and FrodoPlayer
XMPCR running FrodoSat
GPS w/ (for the moment) Microsoft S&T 2005

So, once again Thank You All for the help. I'd like to hear from all of you, any comments are appreciated.

The Computer is in the trunk... in a IBM netvista case... see picture #9 above.

Nope... I was not able to come up with a motorized solution for the screen as of yet... I'll be looking at diferent solutions to that... but for now, it is mounted to the top of the lid and it swings out as I open it, with the help of a spring. and it stays very tight in it rest position when open...

I was thinking of putting a screen on the dash and using servo motors to move it up and down. Only thing is how to get the servos to move before windows starts... or (once your system is working reliably) do you need to?

I suppose you could have it totally seperate from the computer, with a seperate switch, or have it wired into the ignition

I dont know much about servos though

EDIT - BOOM! Way to hook up the servo, courtesy of Bugbyte http://www.dellabarba.com/ibug/Insta...stallation.htm (but I'm sure you already read that...already)

No I have it running straight to the Head Unit and using a PC-ALP AUX in adapter. (since the Mazda HU does not have AUX In). It works great..... Now my nest step will be to make the XM PCR sound better with the Optical Mod.

Brunation, did you have the Nav system and replace it?

A guy I work with just bought a Mazda 3 and it has the nav system but I don't think the monitor is VGA (anyone know if it is?), he would be very interested on how you achieved this.

Thanks,

Troy

No, I did not have the Nav system. It was not available when I boght the car, and as far as I know, the Screen was not VGA. and the system is very limited in features...

Hey Brun, you got the sound hooked up thru the headunit like me. But I see you have an amp too. Are you powering the speakers with the amp rather than the stock HU? If so, are you still able to use the volume controls on the headunit to control the volume?
