you know what sucks... I had a done up motor, with a bottom end girdle & everything... not a stage II but dyno'd at hair over 700 hp....

I had it for a few years, always meaning to drop it in, then, one year, times were ruff & I had to sell it, complete drivetrain with dfi....

that sucks.... this car would have been in the 10's... oh well, guess you can't have everything

dude a T25 can barely put a 2.0 DSM motor in the 275 hp range... no way theres a T25 on a GN motor.

TurboCad this car is rediculous, i love it. I wish i had a car with a turbo AND a car pc... (maybe awd too? )

I dont know how I missed this thread. This reminds me of my first carputer back in 1999ish. I used a 10.4 mono lcd with a Pentium 75 in my Dodge Dakota. I replaced that LCD with a color POS CRT. Even then, most on this site were using character displays and LCD TV's at really low resolution.

My current Carputer is used like your first one- I use it with the CST tuning software and datalogging.

I had a tinted glass over it so when off it disapeared.... there was a panel that was on two slider tracks(along side monitor) that slid up & covered the pc screen completely....... it had the climate control face & the sony eq face on it, both of these units were deep in original form but I had to extend remote the two displays.... then the panel slid down to reveal the monitor..... most people would just say "oh ****" when seeing this car for the first time... at least twice... one when the panel came down to reveal the pc monitor & then again when I pressed the remote & the nose tilted open revealing a sick looking engine.... back then everything was polished & finished off nice..... she sat on a sweet set of 17" centerline billets that looked surprisingly appropriate on this cadillac she had the stance of a impala ss with the same sized 255/50 17's....

Hey Turbo,
I got to tell you, right around this time, I had a 14inch VGA monitor in the car with a Tandy 2500 486 as my car computer. I think it was closer to 1997. I came across what was a MP3Jeep wranger I think. All it amounted to was someone put a full sized computer in the jeep with an inverter. That sent off all sorts of sparks for me. The next thing you knew, I had a 14incher strapped on top of a milk crate with cinderblocks in it and a computer behind the drivers seat. I had to start the car before turning the computer and monitor on though because the inverter (From an old camper) still didnt have the power to handle it and the start drain.
this story brought back all those memorys and I found MP3car.com right afterwards probably as soon as they started.
I dont post much, and I may not be as talented as alot of you with fabrication.. But I have the same wishes and hopes. I dont want to just buy a prefabbed unit... I want to make it myself.
Why do you not restore the turbocad to it prior glory? Rather than LCD, go vacuum tubes again! I think it would be cool to see! Use a CRT touchscreen!
But do upgrade the computer.... gotta have USB for all the hidden goodies.

yeah, I usually try to avoid cinder blocks in an install myself, but I know what you mean I remember wedging home speakers into my car at some point & mighta used milkcrates to hold them in place, then I've had the odd occasion that a milkcrate was a temporary drivers seat too

I duno about restoring it as-was, I would rather go latest greatest really, I'm picturing it sitting on 19"s & 20"s staggered with steem rollers out back, the new dfi's are so cool too, all windows based now, no more DOS add a fusion brain to automate stuff... someday she'll be back

the crt's suffered big time from glare too, even more so than lcds, but because the glass is rounded it never took out the whole screen, just a really bright spot that killed maybe half of it, I used to have to shield it to see it, now I'd want a sunlight viewable screen really

Couldn't resist digging out this thread... that's a really slick car. What's happened to the car since then?
