Alti's 02 alti
This thread has been along time in the making, I started this project over a year ago, it is by far one of the most rewarding hobbies i have ever found. The install has been pretty much in this state for a few months now, but i have spent allot of time tweaking and playing with it. The project will never be completed but it is in a working state now, so i figured that was reason enough to finally create a completed project thread.
First the obligatory pic of the car :
And install pics :
The custom composite dash piece for the monitor is a long story, I have a worklog thread that describes the effort that was put into its creation. I was lucky enough to have a composite genius as a friend, who helped me make it. I am going to give it another coat of paint one of these days, but since I work full time, am engaged to be married in a year and am taking 18 credits of school I don’t see it happening to soon The lcd is a allbrite 10.4" touchscreen, I currently have it running 2 of its 4 backlights @ 750 nitts but it can go up to 1500. The native res is 800x600 and the viewing angle is incredible.
Proudly displaying my Mp3car obsession:

Here are some shots of the hardware and descriptions of functionality
linksys Wireless b/g usb
Holux GPS receiver also mounted on the rear deck
The computer itself is mounted in a case i constructed out of mdf, the case is mounted on the rear seat and can flip up into the trunk. All of the wiring to the front of the car goes through the center console and is hidden. All of my USB hubs are powered and there are a 1.1 and 2.0 hub both front and back. A opus 150 provides power to a Biostar with a Athlon 2400 M 35 watt, I have a 120 gig seagate also mounted in the case.
The case is my least favorite part of the install, thus it is the most likely to get ripped apart and replaced when i find some spare time.
Here is a shot of the DVD player mounting location. it is cut into what used ot be a compartment with a flip up door. I removed the door and dremmeled the dvd drive (slim slotload) into place.
One of the cooler parts of the install is my integration with my cell phone. It is a sony ericsson s710a. I can control different programs on my computer with the cell phone using different profiles to change what the cell phones buttons send to the HID interface. Here is a shot of the centrafuse one I created.
The phone also connects the computer to the internet through BT while i am on the road. This is a shot of the phone connecting.
I have a ELM OBD II board in the dash.
Here is an outside shot of the XM, gps and wireless antennas, I tried to keep the profile to a minimum.
Here is a shot of my 4 channel amp and xm box in the trunk, also my distribution blocks.
Here is a dusk shot:
And here is a shot of the second version of my shell software running on my screen, check it out in my sig.

awsome install.... love the allbrite... cell phone control is really nice too. big screens that fit well are nice, & a screen that is just as usable day as it is night is the ultimate setup... good luck with it.... looks just as good in person btw

wow killer job. I like the Altima, but this tops em. The final result looks like you spent some good deal of time on it. Well done, I like the silver accent of the dash bezel, goes well with the car. Screen looks fantastic. great job dude.
