the hd should be the only real thing to worry about. if your really vibrating, the only other thing i can think of is making sure any pci or other connections/cards are secure, or lued in somehow. ive heard of pci cards vibrating loose.

If you're looking for a skull rattling type sound, I'm not sure how long the harddrive would hold up. I have a 12" sub right now, but its no where near that brain scrambling level.
If you want something that loud, I'd look into a flash memory based solution rather than a harddrive..

I'm anxious to see some pictures as well. You've been a great help through my install, and I've actually pretty much finished. Just have to get around to taking some pics and finishing some loose ends...I accidentally broke the car charger to the laptop, but some soldering should fix it right back up.
Also, I'm looking to do the rear seat delete and might try to do a custom enclosure built into the rear seat wells for my two tens and then make the backrest part of the seat delete as an amp/laptop mount. Right now, that damn sub box in my trunk has left me no space.

munkie: you might be able to.... we'll see :P
ibanez: go to mach1registry.com and search for the rear seat delete... someone did it and it came out pretty damn good.
I should have some pictures up next week.... progress got interrupted by a vacation
The rack is done and all welded up. Just have to paint it, cover the wood base with vinyl/leather. The sub box is getting there.. just a few more layers of fibreglass then some bondo and sanding... should be done soon.

No matter how busy you are, you always seem to have a great status report about how you got everything done anyways Thanks for the link, I actually found a site that has a sub enclosure built into the rear seat delete, might go in that direction....anxious to see pictures

pryos,
I have an 04 Cobra that I want to install my Empeg head unit in. At this point, I am not interested in ripping the whole system out. Your thread seems to be the most information-complete post I have seen yet as far as integrating with the Mach 460... Maybe you could help answer a few questions for me:
How many RCA outputs does the Metra 70-5521 harness need? My head unit has 2 pairs.
I would need one of the pairs for another amp to use for the tweets. Obviously I also need a way to crossover the highs for the tweets. How did you go about doing this, or did you?
By doing this, I am assuming that balance and fade is going to be screwy also?
Thanks,
supertzar

Congrats on getting an Empeg. I have two and wouldn't give them up for anything. I'm a ways up the road in Hartsville, SC. If you have any Empeg specific questions that aren't answered in the FAQ, let me know. I've installed them in 5 different cars now. Don't know much about the Mach systems but I'm interested in anything you find out because I have a friend that has one in his Mustang and he wants to swap the head unit.

ibanez: thanks man.. i haven't made much progress on it but I'll post some progress pictures tonight if I get a chance to give you an idea where its going.
supertzar: more details can be found in this thread somewhere, but basically the harness only needs one set of RCA's. However, since the crossover (stock) is part of the mach460 deck, you need an aftermarket one when replacing the deck. So you will only use one set of preouts from the deck, the signal will be split by the crossover, and you'll get outputs for high/mid/low/subs from the crossover. Lemme know if that doesn't make sense.. and yes, the fade will be screwy because of the way the stock speakers are wired....
Chris

What crossover did you use in your install?
I was thinking of something like an AudioControl 2XS.

I think its an old Techniques.. its very basic.. nothing fancy. Takes one input, and has 2 or 3 outputs (high/mids/sub or high/low depending what you select)..
Anything should work fine as long as you can get a high and low output....
