Giving a bump to the mustang crew, had to pull this one up for some reading. Still waiting to see those sub enclosures finished up Mr Pyros. Also it was rather funny seeing how noob I was about a year ago. Thanks for the patience on your end, Pyros.

Not too sure.... gonna try a few different things and see what i like... one will be redoing the existing radio bezel b/c the bloody thing cracked on the edge where the screen meets the bezel (thanks bondo!). Might try to make a mould of the bezel as it is now and take it from there... we'll see.. lots of options :P

Just too throw in my $.02 pyros, I'm in the process of re-doing my cobra's bezel for the same reason. This time around I decided to go the duramix route. Right now it looks promising, but if you decide to try duramix, do yourself a favor and opt for the 4041 instead of the 4040 that is often recommended. The 4041 is the same as the 4040 except it has a a longer work time. 4041 has a work time of 2 minutes where as the 4040 has a work time of only 50 seconds. That added time will allow you to shape it a little more to minimize sanding. Sanding this stuff is a bit harder than sanding bondo IMHO, so keeping it to a minimum is a good thing. So far I really like the duramix, but it is a little trickier to work with than bondo. Also a little expensive if you opt to buy the dispenser instead of rigging one of your own. Just some food for thought if you were considering it.
I also thought about repairing my last bezel and then making a mold of it and reproducing it, but be warned, it's a costly proposition. You'd have to make a 2-part mold and because of the intricate shape, it would actually take alot of material to make the mold. You could keep the cost down a little by removing the vent ducts before molding though. That way it would be a shallower mold, thus significantly reducing the material needed. If you could find enough demand for premade bezels though it could pay off. Again just my $.02.

Thanks for the info Kevin. I'll definitely look into the duramix stuff. I have somewhat ignored it since my install was done.. but it looks like that's changing now
Thx,
Chris

Very professionally done, it's obvious you did your homework with this. Likely the best setup so far, and of course it doesn't hurt that you're using my favorite modern muscle car
I have a suggestion for the DVD/CD drive, though it might take redoing the bezel. Move the buttons from the bottom to the top, move the screen down slightly (if the shifter doesn't get in the way) and put the drive on top of that, keeping it close to the custom computer case and possibly allowing you to mount it to that. Either that, or a possibly cool idea I came up with: Slot loading drive in the armrest facing up, or if the armrest is high enough facing forward coming out of the front of it. My crude drawing:
Code:

___________|
Where S designates about where the shifter is and the vertical bars are the front of the arm rest, though I'm not sure how easy that is to get to. It would also make it less noticeable, deterring quick n easy thieves
I want to put a slot loading dvd drive and an iPod dock in the top of my armrest. And a USB port to put in a flash drive to transfer music

I've been redoing the bezel in my cobra to add a cd/dvd slot above the screen and I was able to do so, just barely, without moving the buttons. It's definetly a tight squeeze, but It should work. I say should since I haven't had a chance to try to fit the bezel with the dvd drive in place. I am still concerned about the mount for the a/c controls interfering. Though I didn't have to move the buttons on the bottom, they are a covered ever so slightly from view by the screen. They're not physically covered because of the way I upwardly sloped the bezel there, but once mounted, the tops of the buttons will be out of view. Keep in mind these pics aren't of the finished product, just a coat of primer to better see what needed more work. I'm planning to have the drive mounted behind the bezel completely and believe it or not, pressing on the bezel is enough to activate the eject button. I will probably setup an eject button in roadrunner however, just to be safe.

boodster: look up AFSWheels on ebay.com
ibanez: thanks man I actually met up with Don Roy from the magazine last week to get the last 2 remaining copies they had of it
dmsuperman: thanks for the comments. I'm actually contemplating something similar to that (similar to what homebrew is doing) but I may be shying away from it. The carputer is totally out of the car right now while I build a new stainless steel case to fit some new gadgets. I thought about the armrest, problem with that is there's no good way I can find to route the cabling required without cutting which I'm not willing to do :P I'm looking into fitting it nicely into my glovebox right now. Thanks for the suggestions!
Homebrew: looking good! let me know how it turns out for you. I was thinking of doing the same but chickened out and I'm trying something else at the moment (if I ever have time).
Thanks,
Chris
