BTW pyros, I think you have the best looking mach I've seen. That color combo and the rims just go perfect together. Major props on your setup as well. I'll probably have more questions in the future

ibanez, its pretty much the same but ford change the connector shape over the years so you have to be careful what you get. if you have a 2000-01, that will be fine. but for any other years, make sure you get the proper application. get a metra wiring harness, you can't go wrong. check out their site at http://www.metraonline.com/ and find the tech support phone number. call them and ask them for the exact model number for your year/model (most dealers tried to sell me an '03 harness saying it would work, which it wont!!! ford changed the stupid harness from 03 to 04).

So, I'm curious how you have this wired. You scrapped the factory headunit correct? If not, I could make sense of it but other than that I'm clueless lol. EDIT: I see you have the 2004 so what part number did you end up with? Also, do you know what paint your friend used specifically? Like Brand and a number? Sorry for all the questions, you're being a huge help though.

Not sure what the part number is, i'll see if i can find the package for it but i doubt it. your best bet is to just call their 800 number.
i scrapped the factory hu. computer goes in dash, usb cable from computer to trunk. in the trunk, usb cable to sound card. from the sound card: stereo-to-rcas cable to the amp to power highs, other pair of rca's from soundcard to front of car to plug into wiring harness. from the opus, the 12v accessory wire spliced into 2: one to connect to the wiring harness to turn on the factory amps and one to the amp in the trunk. thats about all you need for sound

Hey pyros, what GPS receiver are you using. I can't get mine to work from inside the car so I have it mounted outside, it works great there but kinda wanted inside the back window. I don't want to wait for an ******* to rip it off.

tip: your trunk lid is fiberglass. mount the GPS to the inside the of trunk lid, it'll work like a dream.
works perfectly for me in my 03 GT and it's invisible. same thing goes for the XM antenna.

Pyros, I'm trying to make sense of this, I'm more a computer guy than an audio installer lol. So, idk if your wiring harness is like this, but the one i linked above is two pieces, one that has the ground 12v and speaker outs and another with the RCA's and some other stuff I don't remember. So, pretty much just connect the RCA's from the sound card to the wiring harness RCA's and then the RCA harness is somehow wired to the second piece of the harness to make the connection to the other 4 speakers? EDIT AGAIN lol: I just took a look at my wiring harness and noticed that it has the RCA's and the amp power/grounds on it and the other harness has all the rest. So power to the amp and ground the amp on that harness and connect the RCA's to the sound card. What do I do from there? It seems I have it all drawn out and figured except on how to get the audio signal to the amps for the four 5x7's from the RCA/wiring harness steps.
EDIT: I'm trying to compile all my questions at once instead of jumping around so much, I keep getting spur of the moment questions while I'm at work. I'm going the laptop route so without the opus, would I just wire something up through the battery or tap into the accessory power/ignition power?
Also, do you know what paint your friend used specifically? Like Brand and a number? Sorry for all the questions, you're being a huge help though.

Onnne more question Is there a way to hook up the GPS to maybe a home computer and be able to track the GPS unit from your house, kinda like a home made Lo-jack? Anyone know?

Willy: I'm just using the no-name ebay one and it works great. I think its called the BU-303. Its mounted under the rear windshield inside the car on the deck where the 6x9 speakers are (behind the trunk).
tj!2k4: I thought only the hood was fibreglass? Fack, I think I'll have to try what you're suggesting!!!
ibanez: sorry, trying to make sense of all that lol. the one you linked about is two pieces because its for a 2000-01. The 2000-01's had two amps in the trunk and one under the factory HU. Hence, two separate wiring harnesses because of the routing of the wiring (i believe).
1) connect the soundcard to the RCA's using a RCA Y-Adaptor like this: http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...entPage=search
2) since you're not using an opus, get a radio wiring harness also (this is the one that you get that has power, ground, ignition, accessories, speakers, etc...). Connect the accessory wire of this wiring harness to the remote wire on the amp wiring harness. Do the same for the ground. If you dont want to do this, you can tap into the factory harness. Personally, I hate doing that.
3) Since you also have an '04, you'll need another amp to run the highs (2 woofers and 2 midrange speakers are run off the amps in your trunk, the highs in the doors and rear deck are run off the factory HU). For this, run at least an 8 guage power cable from your battery to your trunk. You'll need an inline fuse no more then 12 inches from the battery to be safe. Run another line (18 guage should be fine, remember larger the number, thinner the cable) from the accessory on the wiring harness to the amp in the trunk and wire it to the 'remote'. A nice place to mount the amp is inside the quarter panel trim inside the trunk. Run a ground from the amp to a spot on teh body, preferrably within 2 feet (mine is within 3 and its still fine).
4) If you dont want the amps to turn on with the car (if the laptop isn't on), you could always run a switch on the accessory line from the harness, then run from the switch to the remote turn ons for the amps.
I hope that clears it up, because in all honesty your questions were confusing me lol :P
I have no idea what paint he used, he mixed it himself to match my factory bezel. I dont think he would even know if I asked him, sorry
As for your last question, there are a few options for that right now. Check in the GPS forum and input devices forum, there were a few active topics on it right now. I'm working on a custom solution for this right now that I might be selling, so I'll post with more details when they come available

hmmmmm.....had not thought of that, I knew that the trunk lid is fiberglass (found out when I tried to get the magnetic GPS antenna to stick to it ), but it didn't even cross my mind to put the antennas under the lid! i'm going to try that this weekend. Thanks TJ!!!
