Software for carputer?
Pyros, are you using a special software to run your carputer? What is it?

I figured that making the backs line up flush would make sure that everything was straight and set back far enough so I can shift out of park without bumping into the screen every time. But after looking at it in the car yesterday, I'm afraid that if I mount it there I will run into problems with the body of the lilliput hitting the plastic frame behind the dash (see yellow circle on jpg). I could always cut that out, but don't really want to since it would really complicate mounting anything in the radio slot down the road. Did you run into any problems with the depth? How far back did you mount your lcd into the bezel? Please LMK.
cartdan....... don't know if it's too late now but here it goes. I actually cut that plastic frame off so I could the screen as far back as possible. You can see the pics on my project page on my sig, I think its on the second page around post 30. Good Luck!

Thanks Willy,
It is too late, but I did end up cutting the frame off behind the monitor also. I've got all of the fiberglass, bondo, and painting done. Now I just need to get all of the wiring in the car and I'll be set. Many thanks to Pyros and everyone else who helped me with the project. Without this forum and posts from guys like yourselves, I never would have even attempted this...

Check the software forum, there are several options in there. I'm currently running Frodoplayer but will probably move to Roadrunner soon.

Pyros,
I finally got my carpc installed and running today. I have a few bugs to work out, but nothing major. I did want to ask if you had installed any kind of amp turn on delay in your system. I simply wired all of my amp turn ons wires to my M1-ATX amp turn on pin, but I'm getting the loud pop when the amps power up, so I guess the delay is not long enough. Since your stock amps are the same as mine I figured I'd see what you were using...
Thanks,
- Dan

Pyros! I'm back to bother you some more Quick question, I've ran all my wires, but I'm curious if wiring both amp remote lines (blue/white on the harness) + the aftermarket remote line + the lilliput on the 12v accessory (red on the harness) is a good thing or will work out? I wired the aftermarket amp remote line to the end of the 12v wire from the harness, then stripped the wire coating in 2 places to connect the factory amp remote wires. Is this also a good thing to do? Thanks for any input.

My remote turn on is hooked up to the accessory turn on that is built into my opus power supply (works as a remote wire that is delayed 30 seconds). It will send a 12v signal after 30 seconds, I do not get a pop. I do however get a soft pop when I hibernate/shut down my system.

I'm not too sure about the lilliput (I have that wired to the constant 12v on the harness and turn it on/off myself).
For the amp remote turn ons, you should only have 2. 1 for the aftermarket amp, 1 for the factory amps (comes off the harness). I simply wired both of these together with the 'remote wire' on the opus power supply (called the accessory wire I believe, it has a 30 second delay on it). If you dont have an opus power supply, you would wire it to the ignition wire on the main stereo wiring harness.
Hope that helps/is clear... let me know if not..
Chris

Chris, I actually fired it up earlier today (no lilliput wired in) and it fired up fine..in response to your comment, I have two blue wires with the white line on them. I figured one per amp? Is this incorrect? This is the amp harness with the RCA's.

That's possible, I honestly dont 100% remember. I thought I only had 1, but I could be wrong. It should be stamped on the wire what they're for or it should be in the instruction sheet that it came with. If they're both the same colour/stripe, I'd assume they were the same too so you're probably right.

Pyros, can you post exactly how you have everything wired from your sound card? I'm sitting in my car as we speak and this wiring is not cooperating. I have the PCMCIA soundblaster. It has a cord that splits into three "female 1/8 phono" jacks: one for fronts one for backs and the other for sub or 7.1 setup. Currently, mine has 1/8 Phono splitters from the sound card wires. From there, on one side of the splitter, theres a 1/8 phono -> L/R RCA cable that goes to the amp. On the other side of the splitter is a connecter that is male phono on one side and RCA female on the other. This connects to the RCA cable up into the wiring harness. This setup only allows sound through one side (L side on front, L side on back). When I plug in the RCA cable to the connecter 1/2 way for the factory amp, it sounds fine and how i want it to. Any feedback? Heres a pic to better explain. This is in paint on a laptop mind you
Edit: got a newer better picture if it helps.

Sorry ibanez, I must have missed the above post. Did you get it working?

Chris, I got it working a bit after I posted that, but in the end it's still kind of messed up. When I lower the front left speaker volume, I think three of my speakers will go down, and then the other will go down with the front right. I think the woofers are acting on the same channel it seems. Other then that, it works haha. I'm trying to get some decent sound out of it and trying to balance the tweeters with the woofers. I have yet to acheive the sound I'm getting from the headunit. Did you have to tweak yours a lot? Thanks for the help/info.
