1992 Subaru Legacy Turbo

This is a copy and paste from another forum, and Im too lazy to make sure it all makes sense. But here's the latest from my project.

I attempted to see what a painted dash looked like, so I painted it.

As you can see, it looked like crap. So I've painted it back to black until I get a replacement piece of trim next week

There are still a few wires visible in the driver footwell, but I should get those cleaned up tomorrow.

This is what the screen looks like from the back seat, which will be nice for movies at the beach

Apart from the stuff in the footwell, this is the only wiring visible inside the passenger compartment. I have to pull up the carpet before I can hide this stuff (USB and VGA extension cables), so that wont be happening til the spring.

I've pulled out the carpeting from the trunk. As you can see, it needs a cleaning if Im gonna leave it this way. This will allow me to bolt down the computer and sub so they dont go sliding around pulling out wiring if I decide to have some fun.

And this is the wiring I still stumped as to how to make neat. I've done quite a bit so far, but I think some of it is just either completely un-hideable, or would require major surgey to fix.

My only real concerns at this point are for the hard drive, being so close to the subwoofer. I'm going to try and build an elastic suspension system, similar to the one in my desktop, to try and dampen the big beats, but apart from that, I'm just going to have to keep a close eye on the SMART readings for the next few months to see if the drive is being damaged or not.

I'm also going to do what I can to try and mount the computer on its side, to give me a little more trunk space, Im just not sure how I can do it in such a way that it'll be secure.

Computer specs:
Athlon 2800+ underclocked to 1200mhz
ASRock K7S41GX
Opus 120W
512mb DDR (128 meg shared for video)
Samsung 80GB 7200 HD
Lilliput 7" Touchscreen

Audio Specs:
Memphis 10" Sub
Memphis 5.5" Components
Kenwood 640W Amp

Just looking at these pics I took and a thought occurs

I think Im gonna do what I did with the amp - mount the computer on the back of the seat.

Not only will this allow easier access to the front panel and components, but it'll save a lot of trunk room, and probably have less shocks.

Gonna drop by the hardware store tomorrow and look at what mounting options I have. I'd prefer not to damage the case if possible.

I had to take the car into the dealership to get the charging system looked at (apparently I need a bigger alt), they spent at least 20 minutes playing with my system, apparently they've never seen anything like it before

Have you used the cupholder much since you installed that? I'm getting ready to install a system and was considering moving the cupholder down the the bottom and doing away with the ashtray, but I haven't figured out exactly how I want it yet. If it's up top the drinks cover the track name and if it's on the bottom they cover the controls.
