2006 Nissan Frontier install

If you remember, but you probably don't, I installed my first CarPuter in my 2003 Mazda Miata LS.

But I got a new truck a few weeks ago and am migrating the CarPuter there (well... now it's a TruckPuter). The Miata (sans-CarPuter) is for sale, if you're interested.

Basically I'm ripping out the entire factory audio system in my 2006 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab and installing:

Infinity Kappa 50.7 Components in the front
Infinity Kappa 60.7 Components in the rear
Infinity Reference 5761a 560 Watt 6-channel amplifier
JBL GTO1002D 10" Dual-Coil subwoofer

All driven by my 'puter... a Via Epia M10k in a Morex 3688 case with an M1-ATX power supply... and a Xenarc 7" TSV in the dash.

You can monitor my progress on my blog at http://www.metaphysx.com/index.php?n...atid=&topic=13

Cheers!

I hope the Frontier comes out as good as the Miata too. :-)

The Miata is a 5-speed manual. I'm asking $16,500.

For all the spec's, here is a link to my CarsDirect ad. http://www.carsdirect.com/used_cars/...ng_id=18948553

Sorry. It's a complete system overhaul and a work-in-progress. I don't yet have any 'finished' pictures because, well, it's not finished. All the remains is installing the new speakers in the doors and permanently mounting the LCD in the dash. The latter, though, may take more thought and time.

Today I did a temp/test-mount of the LCD in the dash, and even recessed a bit, it's too bright in the truck to see the screen in the daytime. I'm going to have to research some other people's jobs for ideas on how to eliminate the glare.

But in case you missed it, here is a link to the complete photo gallery.

As before, you can see the whole gallery at My TruckPuter Gallery.

Since the last post, I got my subwoofer installed and also the Xenarc mounted in the dash. Luckily/surprisingly, it didn't require any dash fabrication whatsoever. I almost feel like I cheated (or was cheated out of the challenge). The Xenarc fit right in without having to destroy the case nor my dash... and it looks OEM.

Here are a couple finished pics. These were taken at night with a flash, so they're not the greatest.

I'm not using the factory head-unit at all. The PC (a Morex 3688 case) fits perfectly under the driver's seat (see below).

I have a Radio-Xtreme on the way, so that will take care of my FM needs (hopefully). I really only listen to NPR anyway, and even with the factory head-unit, reception on the public radio stations here is horrid.

As for the CD/DVD-ROM, I haven't figured that out yet. I'm thinking about modifying that 'change holder' thingy on top of the dash into an enclosure to hold it. But as you can see (bottom pic) it won't go there without a fight (aka, creativity). Directly under the monitor won't work, and I haven't tried yet, but I'm pretty sure there isn't enough clearance behind to install it under the A/C controls.
