2005 Subaru Legacy GT install

Hello, here is my carputer install.
Thank you for all your posts/contributions to this forum, many ideas and inspirations from here and there, most of all, thanks to Jazzy at legactgt.com for his great aux-in board. That aux-in board for 2005+ Subaru Legacy/Outback (stereo aux in function) brought a great start to my carputer project.

Some specs:
CPU: AMD Sempron 2800+
Mother board: ECS 755 A2
Video card: ATI Readon 7000
Sound Card: Sound Blaster Live! PCI (Soon will be replaced by an external USB sound card)
Ram: 512MB
Hard drive: Seagate 80GB
Monitor: Xenarc 700TSV
Power: DC-AC Inverter 400W, 400W ATX power supply

My 2005 Legacy GT with painted grill and LT badge

This was my phase I monitor setup

Now.

the mb and cpu /hard drive

Yes, it is a Lang-Li side panel with window

I should have added more lights!

Thank you and I welcome all your comments.

Damn that is an excellent setup i have a few q's
* what about the heat down that panel?

* with the power inverter during crank. you don't have something weird ?

* on that HD you don't experience anything wrong during driving, vibes. or something?

I ask you all that. because i'm going to build my system and is almost the same as you..

Thanks.

Hello~
1. It was winter time and the temperature seems ok, I have a cross flow fan to air out the heat, as it is getting hot outside, we will see...
2. I may switch to DC-DC (m2-atx maybe) in the future, but right now I just turn on the inverter after starting my engine...
3. hard drive is good, I will set it to vertical later. Many people told me that will avoid the reading head "crash" onto disc if you set it vertically...but so far so good. After all, it is a retired hard drive, was working very hard on my desktop for 4 years already.

How is your project going?
You got a LGT as well?
Thank you!

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I was wondering, did you do the modification to the trim around the screen yourself? Or did you find someone else to do so for you?

Nice setup. Used to have a very similar setup in my Infiniti, but had to lower debt/income ratio, so I bought a Subaru and am enjoying it. But I miss my carputer.

Yes, I did that screen/trim fabrication all by myself.
Here are some pictures with more details.
However, this should consider as my second phase screen fabrication, I am at my phase 3 setup now.

The tool set I got from Costco for $26.99

Ditto that, because it looks sweet, but with my past experience, if that's just hot glue or anything remotely similar, when it heats up (either from exterior/interior temp or from the monitor itself) the glue loosens up and doesn't hold. For what it's worth... ;-) But that's great if you'd had no problems. It does look sweet

Cool bring that Suby love!

Member of LGT here, been wanting to do a carputer since my last car, a Nissan Maxima.

Glad to see another wagon with a carputer install. I think I want to try to utilize the little shelf in the glove box rather than the nifty bin under the floor - I love that thing!

Keep it up, see you on legacygt.com!
