Hey, any update on getting those pics back? I'm re-doing my screen setup (thanks to someone stealing my monitor off my dash), and am thinking of mounting in the two-din spot where everyone else has 'em. Just trying to get ideas. I'm not sure I want to drop the $130 for the Mechtronix bezel like Vlad did...

Go for the bezel, makes mounting a lot easier

Fabrication can be more hassle than its worth IMO and with the bezel its easier to revert the car back to normal if required. Nothing worse trying to find a replacement car trim years down the line.

How come you're selling Vlad? Removing the carPC? It's definitely tempting, but much more than my budget will really allow atm... I'm trying to keep my purchase under $175, $150 if possible. I've seen Lilliputs and these screens made by a company called "Shark", who use Samsung LCD's in that price range. As to mounting, it'll most likely go back up top like I've had. I'll pull the guts of my current RCA-only screen and put in the TS.

Thanks for the offer though. It's very tempting especially with the hide-a-screen you made. That would definitely help out with not getting the thing stolen again lol.

<afterthought>You wouldn't be interested in parting the screen from the bezel, would you?</afterthought>

Play nice.

I have deleted the appropriate posts. Lets leave the name calling out of the forums. This is a "friendly" reminder.

back home for the summer and now to update my carPC..

I have been working for a couple days. and now built a brand new system to put in. it will use about 50W less than the current computer, and w/ my homebrew efficent DC-DC regulator (full wave rectifier) hopefully i wont have the problem with the battery dying as much like i have had in the past.

The PC:
i got a hookup from a friend who just started working for intel. he got me a free little falls pc (D945GCLF) (1st generation, Atom230 single core)

so i gutted my old laptop for parts, took the HDD (250GB) and the disk drive (8x dvd/cd writer), took a 2GB ram stick, and bought a badass new case (Morex Cubid 3688) and started building.

Here is the end result:

taken w/ my cell, sorry for low quality.

Also, you can see i modded an XM Direct. Just got it working last night with a homebrew cable running off of the PS in the case and a com port, sound goes through line-in.

The XM unit gets awesome sound but the direct unit always outputs a high pitch noise, I might make a filter for it to kill the noise, but seems like too much work. If anyone have a better idea on how to eliminate it i would love to know.

edit:

Also, I found that a lot of things people upload here always seem to disappear, I would love to host anything CarPC related that you may have permanently on one of my sites (probably zer0day.net). if you have anything you want hosted. PM me.
