RePost of Pictures

Alright, so i have finished my install (kind of...) and I am just waiting for the screen to come in. (thursday )

until then. Here are some pictures to entertain.

First, My Trunk, i have not shown much this because... I'm Lazy, but here it is... The (Almost) complete trunk

***Lost this picture*** ill try and look for it

Almost everything is done (maybe a changing of the wire configuration) and i just need to bolt in that black box thing... which is duck taped. Its a massive resister according to my research (comprising of typing in the model number online and looking at japanese sites... which i cant read) And its used to kill of a lightening bolt so it does not affect the sound system and electronics in the car (its 3,000,000,000,000 Ohms)

i havent found a suitable spot to bolt it in yet (where it is may be its final location, but with bolts... not tape) when i do, ill update this thread once again.

Next, The Speakers:

If anyone knows anything about the sound system in an impreza, they know its terrible. So, i upgraded.

*** Lost Picture *** will get a new one soon

those are the mtx audio tx4001 composite speakers, connected to crossovers and the amp. the tweeters are seperated from the main sub, and although they are only 4 inch Woofers, they produce sound which i would have expected from a 6+ inch Woofers. They are composite and were a great deal at only $140

* only is relative term

Next... The Installed computer:

1/2 lexan covers to computer... basically unbreakable, sits a little farther back than i wanted it to, due to its height it cant get under the seat completely without the seat hitting it, although a couple mods to the seat have mostly fixed the problem.

It doesnt kill too much legroom... does it?

P.s. The only wires visible are used to plug into my ipod (rca cables) so that i have something to listen to... i get bored easily.

Wiring In the Dash:

I prewired the rear door speakers on the the inside of the dash so i can wire it in 30 seconds incase my rear deck dies... you know... to be safe..

heres the picture...

Next: Wiring Inside the Engine Bay

I wish i had taken pictures when wiring this, there is so much people can learn from it when everything is opened up, but now it is hard to get any pictures of much siginificance....

anyway, heres a picture of the battery connection and the wire to the fuse

*** LOST PICTURE ***

and heres the fuse and the wire going into the tunnel in the chasis (the tunnel enterance is surrounded in green plastic you can see, not really anything else showing.

*** LOST PICTURE ***

Next... GPS:

My gps reciever is in the front windsheild, and its wiring is almost invisible (besides the 2 inches that goto the hub)

the hub:

*** LOST PICTURE *** will repost soon

The Wire on the side:

*** LOST PICTURE *** will repost soon

when the door is closed you cant see it

and to show you how... sneaky it is, heres a closeup... there is no slack ^^

*** LOST PICTURE *** will repost soon

so yeha, i had alot more writing before... stupid computer... but alright... ill update this post later

Heyyyy everybody.....

i am definitely the king of irony....

so, i didnt have a (working) lcd screen for two weeks since i completed my CarPC install.... and i finally get mine.... the same day my car goes to the dealership about a few problems that it has...

i wont get the car back until tuesday, shame... it needs a new water pump and needs the accelerator wire and cruise wire replaced. If you know about subarus, you need to dissassemble about half the front end to chnage the water pump... so yeah, tuesday it will be done...

I definately know! I had a 1990 Legacy and it had about 300k miles on it, original water pump. I get it, and I figure it needs to be changed. First of all, the car was from the East Coast, so it was a bit rusted. The screws had rusted into the water pump and the holder. Two of my "semi-mechanic" friends couldn't get it. So I had the dealership do it, and their mechanics were ready to kill me afterwards, becuase they charged a standard flat rate for a water pump change, and mine was not ordinary! Well, after that and a bunch of other repairs into my first car I never wanted to let go, the repair bills became more than half the cost of my new car! At least I sold it for $110....

Well, just saying, yes I do know...

No no no, the entire car!

Purchase price: $900
New Axles (The weels loked like this / ---- \): $500
Alternator: $300
New Front Fenders to get rid of exterior rust: $200
Water Pump: $400
Radiator: $350
All belts: $200
Fixed Electrical short that nobody could find for forever: $800
Running new wire for the stereo: $100
Fix leaking Head Gasket: Didn't do it. Way too much -- $2500

The gasket is where I drew the line. It was way too late though. I bought my first car, and I loved it. I put all my money into it, and really couldn't get anything back. I thought I would have it forever. I figured if I keep fixing it, what else can go wrong? Everything I guess. They towed it away for $110.

actually the stock rear speakers are still there (In the doors)

and i thought about putting a sub in, but htta would require another amp and a sub box or two in the trunk....

i might... now that i think about it, but for now... ill swap out the front speakers eventually and put in infinities... with the amp and sound card it will be quite good ^^

for my next mods.... XM Radio and Window Tinting.

im getting my car back on tuesday, and will install the screen and tint the windows... then post some pictures and tour my car around to show my friends.

unfortunately (in the car perspective) i am going to a college thing from saturday to july 28th... so i wont be able to work on the car or anything :/

but july 29th.... heh... back to work ^^
