interesting integration.

is that a track ball in the center console?

also, hope you never plan on competing in any SQ events with that battery there....

there's a reason all batteries mounted inside the cabin of a vehicle must be sealed off and vented to the outside...

who did the install of the system and the PC?

Yea thats a kensington trackball mouse. I use the top two buttons for volume up and down. Press both together and it mutes the system.

Whats the reason for the Battery to be sealed and vented to the outside? Gas when charging?

Do OPTIMA batteries ever produce gas?
When used with a properly regulated constant voltage charging system (such as an alternator), the OPTIMA battery will normally not produce hydrogen gas. Occasional gassing can occur when charging at higher voltage levels or in extreme high temperature conditions. In automotive applications this typically will not happen if the alternator/regulator stays below 15 volts.

yes - they can produce gas if they are punctured or soomething happens and they overheat.

TYPICALLY won't happen is a TYPICAL response, what seperates a good system from a great system is usually when you consider what MIGHT happen. There's a reason it's a rule in USACi and I'd imagine in just about any other sound organization.

I went through the same questions when I had my first SQ system with a battery mounted in the spare tire well in my hatch back. I would argue with the judges that it was a pointless rule over and over again until I finally had a judge that was intellegent enough to explain it to me.

ALL batteries produce gas, they just do it at different levels.

It's not exactly something I'd like to take a risk at....lol

again, if you're going to compete, it's a heads up, if you could care less otherwise, then I could care less!

Just thought I would point it out since you've obviously put a lot of time, money, and thought into this truck.

Cool. I appreciate the info.

This is still the first install that was rushed for the show season. I have to relocate some hardware around anyway.

what do you compete in?

car shows?

what shows do you make it to?

wondering if we might possibly cross paths in the future, I'd love to see your set-up in person!

I'll be making it to Texas Heat Wave, Arkansas Blast, USACi world finals in Kansas City, and IASCA finals whenever they get their act together and announce a date and place...lol

That would be awesome, But I don't think my audio is competition stuff.
I am looking to go to Nopi Nationals this year in Atlanta.

Looks like youve got your stock alernator in your Dime. Is that true?

I've been wanting to put a carputer in my Blazer but wasnt sure if I'd need a new alternator. I thought about upgrading the alternator but wasnt sure, I knew either way though I'd have a tank circuit.

Yes it's true. Still the factory non modified alternator. Even though it's working great, I still plan on upgrading it to a 200 amp alterantor. Don't want to put too much stress on it.

realllllly?

I'll be there with IASCA competing in their world finals. We'll have to meet up, I would like to see your truck in person.

you never know, you don't have to spend gobs and gobs of money to get a competition quality system. I'd encourage you to hit up a local single point event in your area sometime and see what it's all about!

on another note - what is the stock alternator size on that truck?
