I pretty much learned to do it by doing it. I also think if you really study peoples build threads here and other audio sites it should give you a good idea on how to go about building something. Also if you do a bit of Googling there are video rental services for DIY videos that rent the Select Product series of DVDs. I have seen bits a pieces of these videos and they should be helpful. Red is right that it would take a bit of time to write an in depth article on how everything is done. But if you have specific questions I would have no problem answering them. And I am sure many others would be willing to help as long as you take the time to do the research before hand.
Biggest advice I can give is just get some fiberglass and resin (plus all supplies to be clean and safe) and just build something.

I get all my glassing materials from a place called Plasticare in Denver. For resin and matte the best bet is a place that deals in large quantities. For my finishing supplies I get them at a paint store that sells primarily to shops. Remember you get what you pay for. You can buy cheap Bondo anywhere but your going to spend a lot more time working with it.

New to this forum. WOW! I'm very impressed. I think my wife would kill me if I tried doing something like that on my new ride. I ran into this trying to see what mods people have done on the new Tahoe or Suburban to get ideas for my new Suburban that I'm getting. (got t-boned last week driving my '07 Tahoe and it's been totaled)
I ordered my 'Burban without the factory Navigation stereo 'cause I'm planning to add that G4 stereo/PC to it soon after, but this install you have here is just freaken awesome.
Keep up the good work man! You made me drooooool! WOW!

Nice install! Just picked up a 2001 Tahoe about 2 weeks ago. Already stripped out my carputer stuff from my S10 and installed my alpine into the Hoe. My wife is going to kill me when i start riping it apart
Need to find the center console that goes all the way to the dash. Mine does not. Then i think the touch screen would go perfect in there and the carputer into the center console. Or more likley under the center console if there is room. I dont think i want to cut or break anything just yet. Thats why i think i will start by ordering a new center console to play with.
Your subs in the back are awesome! If i tried that im sure the box would look like crap! How long did it take you to make the sub box? All the fiberglassing and sanding must have taken some time. Looks real clean from the pics.
Also, you said 600watts? looks like 1000 on each amp

You will need to get a battery hold down or bolt (got mine from local dealer). You will also need a battery relay of the correct current capacity and wire it so it turns on then the ignition is on. I wired from the main battery to the relay then to the spare battery.

I am currently stationed in Iraq with about two more months to go. I do plan on making some changes when I get back, just don't know how soon.

ah, well i'm sorry to hear that, i don't care for this 'war' but i do respect the troops that are station there and what they are doing. Hope you have the best of luck in your remaining time their, and godspeed on your return home.

i know that a second battery would help me in longer playing time while my truck is turned off. But i wanna know if this helps me rise up my amperage going into my amp? And if this adds stress to my altenator?

for your amp, you should probably use a big @$$ capacitor
