1995 Monte Carlo

Oh man, I'm so siked that I'm actually posting this. I've been working on putting a computer in my car since before I even had a liscence or even a car. In actuallity that was only bout a year and a half ago...

Either way, I finally have enough of it to put it my carputer in. I'm running a head-less setup with a kicker kx350.4 amp powering my speakers, all kenwoods, and an Alpine MRP-M450 powering my Alpine type R 12" sub.

I have a cheap Mach Speed Matrix motherboard with a 2.8ghz celeron, 1 gig of geil ram, an 80 gig 3.5" hdd, an audigy 2 sound card, Delorme Earthmate GPS, and an M2-ATX power supply. All this powering Road Runner as my choice for front end software.

Not really good at this whole posting your project thing... so here are some pictures of it installed the way it is now...

I say now because I plan on actually building a fiberglass sub enclosure in the corner of my trunk, and mount my amps somewhere... all in hopes of freeing up trunk space for my snowboard.

FC3S can only hope to improve
won't hurt the comp to have it that close to the sub? o_O

u kno, magnets and hard drives dont work so well together

unless its shielded? +_+

hmmmm, well havn't had any problems so far, and I thought computer case's were supposed to be shielded. Either way its only staying like this for the time being, when I have some money and time I plan on making a custom fiberglass enclosure for the sub, then it won't be right next to the computer anymore...

Most computer cases nowadays are made from aluminum. I.E. no magnetic shielding. Though I have set a hard drive on top of a degausser for about 30 seconds, put the drive back in the computer and it booted just fine. What I'd worry about is the sub vibrating cards out of their slots.

The only card I have in the pc is my sound card, but I'm not really that worried bout it comming out simply cause I don't have the sub really cranked up, I just like something to fill in the lower end of my music. However, if the vibrations do become an issue, then I guess I'll just use that as another great reason for getting a Silverstone EB01

Hot glue is a easy fix for that.

So I've heard, but in the same respect, it sounds like such a bad red neck idea...

Great job!

Well, you've gone and re-peaked my interest in the 5th Gen MC's

I'm gonna try and pick up a 98-99 Z34.

Could you do me a favor and tell me the dimensions of the storage bin?

Thanks,

Rafster

Thanks, its my first car and I've been really happy with it so far, no problems with it what so ever, which is pretty good for a 11 year old GM car...

When you say storage bin do you mean the trunk, the center console, or the glove box?

I'm assuming that your talking bout the center console, I can meassure it for you later, kinda in class right now...

oh, lol, I was totally off, if your wondering wether its big enough to fit a lilly, I belive that it is, however its a horrible location, right in front of the shifter and kinda low to see while driving. That was my first idea to mold one into there.
