Very clean install. It's great that you get to keep your radio as well!

Thanks Cha Cha, thanks Gizmo,
you're so cool in my book. no need to hate the hater though. Without them this world would be pretty bland. I welcome the opportunity for differences. it makes me stronger (or knocks me on my ***). Either way, it keeps me on my toes.
As for your dad driving cadillacs for 30+ years Gizmo, i guess the impact and influence is what drives us (no pun intended). I too was brought up around italians whom use to drive nothing but cadillacs - such as the eldorado with the ragtop and the pin stripes - kewl!!!! it's part history which attracted me to this legacy of a car.
hey, here's my latest skin on the front end application of RoadRunner....
do any of you have pics of your projects? i'd like to see them....

thanks Fry,
i noticed you too are using RoadRunner. I'm very happy using it and the fact that it's so well supported. I'm looking to add a second monitor to my car right above the console light. I found a usb video card?!?! you hear right USB video card. This will allow me to add a second monitor so that it can be touch screen and i can throw 2 seperate windows. I look forward to it.
Nice work on your project.

Wow man - thanks for the comments -
Actually, I love your idea with the USB ports and their locations - I'm not a big fan of my hub and I know I have to relocate it some day - but just by looking at the specs on your mobo, I was like "damn" - LOL - Not even my home PC's that fast! LOL

Just my front one for now - my daughter's only 7 months - her car seat still faces the rear windows - LOL - It's true though, there's always something else to add or modify or something to tweak

your daughter's gonna be very happy....
I realized now when i have people in my car, they are more entertained by what's playing on the computer than what is going on outside. Traffic jams, etc are no longer an issue - LOL
PS: i found a utility called DVDShrink which allows you to backup the DVD on a hard drive. Once on the hard drive you rename the extension from *. VOB to *.MPG and you can open the file in Windows media player. So conveniently, you can have all your DVD's on hard drive to play on the fly.

Mi name is Miguel and I live in Spain. I have a 2004 Cadillac CTS and I'm crazy about installing the carputer. I have all the components and I also checked the page http://www-personal.umich.edu/~mattbai/ that is also really good. Your project looks great so can you please add me as a friend to let me check your page?. My main points are how to get the sound through the speakers and also how to put all the components inside the original radio chassis. I even purchased a radio to do it without disassembling the original unit from the car but I don't want to break anything.
Can you help?

MattBAI actually was the first carputer i ever saw in a car (and a cadillac at that) - so i was inspired to do the same.

Audio Through Speakers
http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/show...r-project.html
Hello,
At last I have my carputer running and I had the time to post about the custom harness to drive the audio from the computer through the factory speakers. Have a look to this link or visit my blogs below to find more info.
I'm currently using CENTRAFUSE but I have modified a skin for the ICT just in case CF expired (too expensive if they keep their current prices policy). I never tried RoadRunner, do you recommend it?

audio through the speakers?
Have a look to my own thread to find the drawings for the installation.
http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/show...project-2.html
http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/car-...illac-cts.html
As I explained, you must use any of the empty power sources from the fuse case under the backseat. Under the central console we located 3 fuses and their input is positive (+).
Yellow 20 A Additional amplifier
Red 10 A Switch carputer on/off
Orange 5 A Switch audio relays on/off
To commute the audio signal we must use 2 paralell relays (8 pins)
All the signals from the factory radio ISO to the relays are positive, commuted by the switches located on the cover of the central console (I/O). From the relays we take the audio to the factory amplifier ISO.
However, if you don't feel confident enough to do it by yourself I recommend taking this drawings to an audio shop and they will be able to it for you.
Good luck.
