2000 Turbocharged 5.0 Explorer ... something different
As much as I like to show off, I cant believe I never made a thread about my truck. Here are the pictures from my original install. This will become a worklog soon with me building my new carputer.
This system I built in 2004. IT consisted of the Tview 7" widescreen in my console and a 6.5 manual flip out in the dash. Also, I have molded my Terk Commander XM radio onto the dash. As of now, I have a 8" LCD where the radio is in this picture, but I have it torn apart at the moment, so no pictures.
The computer for this was an HP E-PC at 933Mhz running Windows XP and Centrafuse. IT was powered by a universal 12v laptop charger. IT also had its own gel cell battery seperated from the main battery by a diode so the computer would survive crank-up. The diode allows the computer to pull current from the main battery, but kept the rear battery's voltage from dropping when I cranked the truck.
If I had done a little more research, I would have found out molding the XM into the dash was pointless- I didnt know there were adapters to control it through the computer. Oh well.

For my new dash, I am moving my 8" Lilliput up to where the AC vents are now. I got some vents off of a 3000gt that will hopefully fit in the lower portion of the radio hole, and the screen will go above them. The HU will have a remote faceplate molded into the center console along with my boost gauge and AEM wideband.
THe first picture is of the 3000gt dash vents and the second is of the plan for the dash piece.

Did you turbocharge your Explorer yourself? Got any pics of the engine?

bedliner, not headliner You get it from Advance Auto; it is Duplicolor brand. Just use light coats and you can put as little or as much texture as you want.
