This tutorial will explain how to change the Flash logo on your FlashDeck skin to an image of your choosing.
Materials needed:
- Adobe Photoshop or GIMP (Free)
- Png2swf (Free Trial)
- An image file (Google)
Step 1: Create a PNG with a transparent background.
You will first want to get your hands on an image file to work with. Feel free to use your creativity here (Personalized logos, photos of friends and family will work well). Google Images is a great resource if you’re looking to replace the logo with your car’s emblem. One thing to keep in mind while searching for your image is the larger the image, the better your logo will turn out.
Now that you have your image, open it with Photoshop and make sure that the “Layers” and “Tools” windows are open. Begin by selecting the area surrounding your logo with the Magic Wand Tool (W). If the selection bleeds onto your logo you may try lowering the Tolerance level to around 10-25% Note: to select multiple areas at once, hold the SHIFT key down while selecting.
Now invert the selection by clicking SELECT > INVERSE or (Shift+Ctrl+I). Your logo should now be selected. Next, you will want to “Crop” the image by clicking IMAGE > CROP Note: after cropping, the logo should still be selected. Right click anywhere on the logo and select “Layer via Copy” like so:
Next, you will want to delete the Background layer and resize the image. Highlight the “Background” layer and click the trash can symbol in the bottom right hand corner of the layers window.
Then, click IMAGE > IMAGE SIZE… and type in a width and height of 349x349 pixels Note: you may need to uncheck the “Constrain Proportions” box.
Finally, click FILE > SAVE AS… and save your logo as a PNG format (non-interlaced)
Step 2: Convert your PNG to Flash (SWF)
Launch the Png2swf program and click ADD to open your PNG logo. Then, select an output folder and filename and set the FPS (Frames per second) to 20. Hit CONVERT and you’re done!!
Step 3: Copy the SWF logo to your FlashDeck folder
And that’s all folks
