Win XP Embedded - good information

Hello Guys,
I know some of you are interested in rolling out your own custom XPe OS for your Carputer - this is very possible, including designing your own custom components, ie Centrafuse Frontend, your OBD-II tools, whatever, drivers for hardware, custom applications....and imbedding those custom components into your build.

This means you can do the runtime image, and copy it to your drive, and of you go - even including licensing etc....but, it will require a fair effort, and some time spent on seeing which registry entries, dll's etc are required.

Once you have done this, you can license and sell these runtimes (provided you have OEM CLA with MS, and the licensed Studio version)to anyone else with the same needs (read hardware/software) as you....

Anyway, to make a long story short, See here, this is a comprehensive know-how of quite a few tips and tricks on Win XPe.

Enjoy.

XPe has been discussed a lot on these forums for a few years. Microsoft employees have even pushed for having an hobbyist licensing model because of work they've seen on these forums.

No-one want's to drag up 5-year old threads - then you get accused of threadmining - plus, the link I posted covers SP2 and 2007 release kit for Win XPE.

Thanx for your linkies, I will visit them, I got myself the full studio version, for other reasons also than just my carputer....but I will certainly post helpful info here, maybe even design a few components, ie Centrafuse, one or 2 OBD-II interfaces....this will make it easier for the next person who uses those same applications....
