Pros and cons linux vs winders, hehe

Hello people, I have been looking at this site for a few years but have never joined. Now is the time for me to start my project but i cannot seem to gather enough info about it to make a decision.

Basically i have no problem with either os except im more experienced to windows, but more partial to linux/bsd systems.

Could someone describe the pros and cons on both type os's?

I would like to have gps/camera/music&video player/wifi and of course reliability from lots of system power off's and on's as well as which disto (if linux) and frontend is preferred.

I greatly appreciate your input on any of these.
-Tommy

Most of the software here is written for windows. Though there are many options for linux as well.

Windoze is preferred for one major reason: There is far more software available for use in the car than there is for Linux.
