Hi m8, just leave the skin.ini settings as they are and just change the fi.ini ones. I will be posting a new version tonight that fixs the blue bar appearing at the top on frontscreen.

hope this helps

Thumbs up FreeICE Frontend Released..

Well I have taken the plunge and started coding my own frontend.. It so far does music / video / gps ... its coming along quite fast.

All the development work is being done over on www.digital-car.co.uk which are UK carpc forums... I will however switch it to my FreeDrive forums once its into beta stages.

It is a windows media player based frontend written in VB6 with a flash front.

I am trying to make it out of the box as much as possible.

Here are a couple of screenshots

grab it from..
HERE

HOW TO INSTALL

Download / unzip

If you want to embed a gps app, open up fi.ini and put its Windowname , Path in there..

You can configure the Music / Video path from within FreeICE, just goto the browser and press drive, surf to the correct path and press and hold the music/video tab until the confirm box appears.. :-)

To load everything in a folder, just press and hold that folder until a message appears :-)

I have been doing daily updates over on digitalcar..

hope you like it so far..

Skully :-)

Looks nice. I see you're still working with Destinator. Will your other projects (FreeDrive and especially FreeFone) benefit from your experiences with your own frontend, or are those projects on hold/dead now ?

I have already improved the embedding and I am at the moment coding up SiLabs radio compatability.. FreeICE 0.5 should be ready within the next few days :-)

Very impressive. And it's under 1MB so far. I can see myself switching to this in the future.

Did the switch

I must say you have done a great job. Looking forward to what's to come. How soon do you think you would have video, internet and phone. I already intergated Iguidance 4.0 as per your instruction and works great. But for some reason I cant get the the top menu of iguidance to disapear. It used to work on Roadrunner. I know I must have done something but cant figure it out.

Hi m8 thanks :-) It already does video .. you are still thinking roadrunner where it has music / video buttons, this one just has media.. so when you goto the browser you can either select your music tab or video tab.. you can then just load videos up.. the good thing about this is if you have several videos in one folder it will play them all inturn..or if you have music videos it will play these too :-)

next release in a day or so..

Steve
