3sixty Software Development
Has anyone "hacked" either of the 3sixty units? I would be satisfied being able to pass in a saved settings file via command line to the RF software, and have it load the information into the unit.
I'm about 90% sure the 3sixty.2 is the processor I'm going to run, regardless if I can control it on the fly or not, but it would be cool to operate it on-the-fly for functions such as:
-tagging music files with appropriate EQ's, etc, and have the unit set to these settings when song is played
-save current settings and bring them up later (externally... Not in RF software)

There aren't any keyboard commands in the RF software, but once it's paired via bluetooth, you should be able to send/receive data with other programs. It would just need to be formatted the same. I'm not smart enough to do that, but it should work. I highly doubt RF has done much if any encryption on the comms between the 3sixty and tuning device (be it palm pc or laptop)
I hadnt thought about this idea before, I'd love to fix some eq settings on-the-fly for some of the MP3s i have. If you haven't checked out the RF PC software, it has a demo mode. It's definately not touchscreen friendly or embedding friendly (screen size is hard coded), but is very easy to use.
Do you know how to read/see the information being sent via bluetooth/com? THe RF software uses a virtual com port, so it should be similar to reading NMEA GPS data (which i've done)
Any progress on your build? Haven't seen updates at FSC for a while. havent looked there or here much lately. Saw the 360 title and hoped somebody had cracked it somehow

One problem: It takes forever to load saved configs on the 3sixty.2 (20+ seconds if i remember right). It also stops processing for part of that time.
It would work better to just move sliders around inside the software, but that would take someone modifying the sofware to accept commands (which would be nice for other things as well)

Sadly, very little progress has been made in over a month!
I've been conversing with one of the techs at RF over the past day, but simply getting him to understand what I'm looking for is like pulling teeth! I need access to one of their programmers, assuming their programming is done in-house.

Seen this thread?

"tbone" seems to be the one who wrote the windows software. Doesn't sound like they are at all interested in adding capabilities to the it.

I'm not sure he wrote the software or not... I've been through many of the threads there, and somehow missed this one? Tbone is the one who seems to know the 3sixty VERY well, so I'm guessing (and by his sig) that he has some serious affiliation on the design portion of the processors, which if they sub-out the programming of the GUI, would mean he would have a VERY active role in the software/hardware integration... I may just have to shoot him a message and find out... Thanks for the link!

I have a 3sixy.1 So far so good, It is a bit tedious to do EQ adjustments on the fly. I find it easy enough to do via touchscreen, no harder than winamp. If you are going to use winamp I suggest leveling that EQ, and allowing the 3sixty to do it all. Now, the 3sixty.1 i have has much less EQ options than the .2 so I could be shooting the wrong info. The response until you hear a change in sound is usually about 3 seconds.

I know for a fact that Tbone was the designer of the 3Sixty.
If you need more info you can contact me direct wayne@nospamming.traffic.co.za
Remove the no spamming section from the mail.
I wrote a small delay calculator for this based on the 3Sixty.2
