I-Tunes front end?
So I'm really interested in doing this carPC thing, but have run into problems.
I have all my music categorized, and playlisted for Itunes. To duplicate all these plalists in winamp would take me forever. Are there any front ends out there that use Itunes as the base player?

If you're using Windows, iTunes is just a slow, bloated program on most PCs. CarPCs are supposed to be compact. And compact means you aren't going to have lightning fast speeds. So iTunes will be slow. Unless you don't care, I'd look at using WinAmp, as this is chosen by most for its fast, basic interface.
There has to be a way to open your iTunes playlists with WinAmp???
Or if you're set on iTunes, get a Mac Mini for your carPC

If all of your music is properly tagged and in the .mp3 format it's incredibly easy to switch over.
Just make sure in your iTunes settings you have "allow itunes to manage my media library" (or something like that) checked off.

Doesn't RR support iPod functionality? If so, you could load all that stuff onto your iPod and manage it through Road Runner.

Thanks for all your help guys... I guess what I like about I-Tunes is the way you can just switch between playlists so quickly, and how "party shuffle" makes a random playlist for you from the library, and allows you to add more songs on the fly. I've been playing with roadrunner alot, and I think It's possible to do the same sort of thing, but honestly I just don't know what the specific buttons do. Does anyone know where I can find sort of an "instruction" sheet for RR?

i would love a frontend that utilizes iTunes...or maybe if Apple would stop being so finicky about DRM and maybe make something customizable, like font size, color, button placement and size inside iTunes...that would be great as well...

any front end can be programed to use the iTunes library without the iTunes application running simply by parsing the iTunes.xml file. I don't know of any PC FEs that do that however, Mac options are available if your carpc in a mac mini.
there is also another mac FE that controls the iTunes app itself through scripting. I would assume the same thing could be accomplished on windows but I may be wrong. (does iTunes on windows support applescript?)

thanks Neon, but what i really meant was that I like the iTunes program over WinAmp. to me it sounds better, and i just all around like it...
I dont think we have a program like bootcamp on the PC...if we did...i would definately use it in this instance and use some Mac FE's...
Thanks again..
