I need FTP software recommendations.

I've been using the FTP built into windows explorer. It's a piece of crap and I'm sick of how it handles things like timeouts and such. I used to use WSFTP way way back when. I though it was free, guess it's not anymore. Anyways, I need a more reliable/functional ftp program. I know there are quite a few webmasters around here and I'm curious to hear any suggestions you might have.

EDIT: Freeware/opensource preferably

FireFTP is awesome. Works great and is available as an add-on to Fire Fox if your using that.

FTP add on to firefox is good.

You could always try using the FTP facility built into IE if you are using that.

I've used CuteFTP, BulletProof, Filezilla and G6. Out of all them I'd have to say Bulletproof is my favourite, it's easy to use and also allows you to queue transfers before sending/receiving. So anything you drag between windows won't actually transfer until you hit the GO! button. I recommend it.
However it's not free but.......

Ahh yes, forgot all about Bulletproof. That one is great too if you want a stand alone FTP.

You are asking for client or server?

If you want a server then Win FTP is very powerful and easy to use.

smartftp. That's my favorite by far. Better than filezilla IMHO.
