hold yer horses!

Dude!

Guess what? There may not be a virus/trojan/malware on ur pc after all!

I just had a thought and took a stroll down to whois.com and popped in microsft.com (without the "o") and guess who showed up as the owner of the domain!

It wouldn't hurt to run a scan tho, just to be on the safe side... But I wouldn't go out on a limb for that if the above is actually the case.

As an afterthought, while considerin scanning yer hard disk, since you don't have McAfee, check around with any of ur friends/acquaintances/colleagues who do have it and if they'd mind you dropping by and scanning ur HDD. Then simply pop it into an external USB case and take it over.

I think Kaspersky is also pretty aggressive tool and should weed out stuff, if any. Just improving ur options m8...

Say what happens k?...

Old Malware?

It sounds like some malware changed the homepage.

It's possible that the malware was removed at some point, but the change to the homepage went unnoticed.

Also, QC, really good call on the keyboard.

ClockWork, u could be right...

About the keyboard, I don't want to sound cheesy, but this was purely through experience with the not-so-experienced noobs in my office (rizaydog no offence to u, referring to the peeps in my office) who used to come to me tearing their hair out yellin "my PC's goin nuts!" after leaving a stapler, book or something heavy one of their keyboards (laptop + external keyboard= double the trouble! lol!)

Well, I gotta tell ya that if it wasn't for qc4000, I would be getting those pop ups until the batteries on the keyboard went dead. I only use the stupid thing once a month if that. Except, of course, when stupid things like this come up.

Its been several blissful days since my last pop up. However, I will install av software, run a scan, and remove the av.

I'll update after I run the scan.

Well I ran norton last night. No viruses found. I will look into other av software and try something else. Still no pop ups.

That's good to hear m8, I kinda convinced there's no virus... But as mentioned before, better to be on the safe side...

I installed and ran McAfee. It didn't pick up anything either. And still no pop up's. It must have been the keyboard. Again, great call qc.

Yep. One issue down. 2.5 billion to go. I'm having issues with my embedded speedo. It runs about 20 mph fast. What do you think it might be qc? Possibly my shoe lace color? LOL

Thanks again.

hahaha! That's a good one! It might have something to do with mis-calibration of the speedo though. Would be worth checking if you can calibrate it and run it through it's steps and see if that changes anything... A difference of 20mph is a big diff methinks, specially since I *just* got flashed yesterday speeding! I'm hoping it wasn't me though, coulda been the guy in the 3rd lane who was doing at least 10kph more than me!

And yeah, the only way to troubleshoot those 2.5 billion issues is to keep at them one by one...

Well, I guess since it is 20 mph over the actual speed, I shouldn't get a ticket...

It's a built in safety feature

Dang. I thought it was my shoe laces. I'll try to finish up the rest of the issue by the weekend.
